Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is expected to open big when it finally hits US theaters this weekend, and it's already off to a terrific start internationally after amassing another $26.9M thanks to a stellar May Day Monday at the offshore box office. This brings James Gunn's hilarious space-adventure up to $132.9 million in total.

If the film performs as well as early tracking estimates indicate, it could take in as much as $150M over its first weekend in The States, and it's yet to open in several key locations such as Korea, Russia, Argentina and China.

Not as good as the first one but it might be funnier;

@ODanil - the jokes highs were higher than the first but the lows were also lower, not as good as the first but the first is the best mcu film to date in my opinion so that wasn't really going to happen

@EnnisFan - 100% agree with everything you said;

@ODanil - the only thing that's keeping the first a TAD but higher than Vol.2 when just looking at it from a film standpoint is how Vol.1 just had a more consistent plot thread from beginning to end. Vol.2 is definitely a lot more character driven, but when the main focus of the movie kicks in during the third act, the story is definitely deeper then anything Guardians 1 had. Vol.2 is my favorite over Vol.1 with how emotional it gets and that final fight was so unexpected and something so new

Soon after wrapping production on Vol. 2, the cast of the Guardians (soon-to-be) trilogy, head to Atlanta, Georgia to film Avengers: Infinity War. If the moviegoing experience is anything like the account of production Gamora actrss Zoe Saldana recently opened up to Collider about, the Infinity War saga will be everything fans are dreaming of

Anthony & Joe Russo are in the midst of directing the Infinity War film, marking the first time Saldana and her Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista will be operating within the Marvel Cinematic Universe under a director other than James Gunn.

“They’re fantastic… they do a fantastic job," Saldana said of the sibling directors. "They’re not shying away from the drama that an undertaking such as bringing all the characters in the Marvel universe together is going to be for them. And they’re understanding the dramatic beats and they’re showcasing it. And obviously, it’s going to have a lot of action and everything but also as Guardians we’re providing that levity and I think it’s going to make the movies more interesting.”

This all makes Marvel fans salivate over the idea of Peter Quill trying to have a conversation with Steve Rogers, two Earthlings who both have a lot of catching up to do with trends and technology, while Rocket Raccoon and Tony Stark craft up some nifty tech on the other side of the scene. All the while, Saldana's Gamora just can't take any of them seriously!

One thing to be taken very seriously, though, is the massive set of the biggest Marvel Studios production, ever.

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 undoubtedly had massive sets and an impressive budget to bring them to life, neither will match the scale of Avengers: Infinity War.

“We’re kind of in shock because it’s too big," Saldana said. "In theory, your mind going in you’re like, ‘This is too big, I hope I’m not overstimulated and overwhelmed by its immensity’ because it’s very big. But to know what they’re doing and the direction that they’re taking, I felt super excited very early on and I love the fact that the Guardians — we’re keeping authentic voices and that’s going to be really what makes going to make our introduction, our participation special. And I love what they’re doing with the rest of the Avengers and their characters and their storylines. It’s going to be quite dramatic and amazing.”

I'm agreeing with many of the critics (I don't know when this has ever happened!...lol) but it wasn't as good as the first. It's still good. It absolutely includes more humor but the depth of the character development and story don't flow very well in my opinion.
