There was a point in the casting process where Matthew McConaughey was the top choice to play Ego, the Living Planet in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. However, despite that, new concept art has surfaced online featuring a look at what the Academy Award-winner may have looked as the father of Peter Quill. Check out the photo below:

Ego was a great villain, shame we probably won't see more of him.

Huh, interesting.

Honestly Kurt Russel was so perfect for me, I can't really see any other casting, but hey, maybe this means Matt could be courted for a role as Norman Osborn or something down the road if SONY stops being stupid with their creative decisions... -_-

McConaughey would've been cool, but I'm glad they went with Kurt Russell. He's easier to buy as Pratt's dad because he's older and I can see more of a resemblance between him and Pratt than I could see between McConaughey and Pratt.

A trend I'm noticing with phase 3 movies is the end fights are all different. They feel more personal rather than the heroes smashing a bunch of faceless bots

@PantherKing - indeed.
Civil War: Iron Man and Cap beat each other senseless.
Strange: it's not even a fight, Strange just trolls Dormammu into surrendering.
Guardians 2: Peter fight his father (who's a freakin' planet). and the end of the fight involves a giant rock construct shaped as Pac-Man....man, that finale was really weird, wasn't it?

@Spidey91 - As silly as the final fight in GOTG Vol 2 was, I find it to be pretty dark because... well...

HE'S FIGHTING HIS OWN FREAKING FATHER!
