For a variety of reasons, Disney and Marvel Studios frequently release their movies in a variety of internatonal territories before North America. Many fans based in that country claim that it's wrong "our" films debut elsewhere first, but when the vast majority are released domestically long before they reach the likes of the UK and China, a couple of Marvel movies a year is a small price to pay.
Of course, the downside to that is the fact spoilers quickly find their way into comments sections and reviews, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has now taken to Facebook to reveal why learning about a specific plot point or two beforehand may not really be the end of the world.
"There are studies that show spoilers don't really spoil anything. In a good story, our brains feel just as much pleasure whether or not we know the plot point ahead of time - and a new sort of pleasure emerges when we're piecing together the story we know is leading to some already-known element.
So, if you've accidentally heard about a surprise in Vol. 2, worry not - you will still be able to heartily enjoy the film. Not only because spoilers don't matter, but because we've created a movie where the story, humor, visuals, music, and emotion don't rely on surprises even if they did, and that you'll have a blast whether or not you know a spoiler or two before going in."

However, there's no getting around the fact that most fans would rather go into a movie like this one knowing absolutely nothing, so anyone who's been accidentally spoiled probably won't be comforted by these remarks.
