GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2: Here's What James Gunn Had Planned For David Bowie's Cameo

Before his death early last year, plans were in place for legendary singer David Bowie to make a cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Here, James Gunn reveals what that would have entailed.

David Bowie sadly passed away in January 2016 but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has already revealed that he hoped the singer could make a cameo appearance in the sequel.

Just how close that came to happening isn't clear but in a recent fan Q&A, the filmmaker shed some light on what exactly he had planned for the legendary singer who was no stranger to acting.

"I did talk to David Bowie’s people about him being in a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy," Gunn revealed. "It would have been as one of the Ravagers, along with Michelle Yeoh and Ving Rhames and Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum, but, unfortunately, David Bowie passed away." Which Ravager he would have played wasn't revealed but this would have been fun to see.

None of Bowie's songs
were used in the sequel but "Suffragette City" did feature in a TV spot. The first Guardians of the Galaxy included "Moonage Daydream" during a key sequence and we're now going to have to wait and see if Vol. 3 features any of his iconic tracks. Talking of the original Guardians, Gunn also shared a behind the scenes image of the team earlier this week which can be seen down below.

Well he would have been one of the original Guardians. My guess is he would have played Talon.

David Bowie was who I wanted for Warlock personally.

Damn, almost all of my favorite artists from my teen years have passed away way to soon.

I'm really hoping to hear Heroes at some point during Vol. 3 to end this team's run together. It might be my favorite song of all time, and the whole "Heroes" thing fits really well with this being a superhero movie.
