Working Title For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Revealed

Marvel Studios has a long history of giving their movies interesting and humorous production titles. Now, thanks to film and TV magazine Production Weekly, we have the working title for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and it's very interesting......

In an effort to put off nosy locals and over-enthusiastic fans, Marvel Studios has often given their films amsuing and self-referential production titles. The Avengers was 'Group Hug', Winter Soldier was 'Freezer Burn', Iron Man 2 was 'Rasputin' etc. Now, thanks to film and TV magazine Production Weekly, we know the working title for the follow up to last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy?, and it may hint at several fan-favourite characters appearing in the film.....

Production Weekly has listed the film as 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2 "aka Guardians 3000"'. In the comics, these guys were the original Guardians of the Galaxy, and protected the future from various cosmic threats. They currently have their own comic series, titled 'Guardians 3000' to avoid confusion with Star-Lord, Groot and the gang. Interestingly enough, they have also counted Yondu among their ranks, who you'll remember as the blue-skinned space pirate that 'adopted' Quill after his mum died of cancer. Could this mean that the original Guardians of the Galaxy will be making an appearance alongside the modern team in the sequel? We'll have to wait and see. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be released worldwide on May 5th, 2017.

Saw this earlier today and was wondering if someone was going to report on this. It'll be interesting if Guardians 2 features time travel (which can be a limiting thing when building a cinematic universe).

However we did see Yondu. So perhaps we'll see the rest of the team (maybe Starhawk is Peter's dad and the team broke up after he went off on his own).

I hope we get to see the original Guardiams, maybe even have some of them join the new team.

Ohhhh what if we have he old guardians vs the new guardians then they team up against thanos but fail which leads to infinity war
Random thought here but with infinity war most likely crossing the guardians with the avengers and RDJ's contract coming up do yall think that they could do something similar to annihilation with Starlord and Nova sacrificing themselves to defeat Thanos but instead of Nova they could use Ironman which would definitely resonate with the audience and be a great way to send Tony out with a bang

Yeah I do think we'll either get a time jump to a future guardians team
OR it'll be the current Guardians team vs another time. Which would be a fun dynamic.

Speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy and Yondu, catch Michael Rooker on this episode of The Comic Book Show! It's HILARIOUS!

Guardians 3000 is so much better than the crappy GOTGINO (Guardians of the galaxy In Name Only) by Bendis.

@SnapperCarr

I could honestly see them revealing that Quill's space dad was killed by Thanos and they end up tracking down the Time Stone for whatever reason to go back and question him about something they need to locate to defeat Thanos (Adam Warlock?)

Though i feel that Nebula and The Collector are going to be the main villains, with Thanos coming in at the end to claim the power stone and destroy Xandar so that nobody else uses it.

Then it will lead into the events of Thor Ragnarok which will end with Thanos walking through a destroyed Asgard and retrieving the Infinity Gauntlet.

In Infinity War Part 1 he will retrieve the rest of the gems via first attacking the Guardians, forcing them to flee to Earth for help. Then Thanos will head to Earth following the Guardians to find the remaining stones.

I know this sound waaay too DOFP, but what if the movie starts with the future Guardians (Yondu among them) and Starhawk teleports back in time to prevent the space and time collapse? After all, that's what happened in the comics.

@Nomis - chill, Abnett's take on the Guardians was light years ahead of the originals. I remember the originals from the Serpent Crown saga, they were cool but Abnett took the concept to another level.

The Time Gem has to be introduced in some film so why not.
Also, could StarLord's father be Kang/ScarletCenturian/Immortus ?
