The recent Stephen King adaptation It was a monster success with critics and audiences, with the film now holding the record for biggest opening weekend for a horror movie. With all that success, you'd figure those who have already seen the film would be hungry for more. And whilst the second chapter of the planned duology is still a ways off, director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti revealed during an interview with Yahoo! that they had been asked by Warner Bros. to produce an extended cut of the film for the home video release at the end of the year.

And the scenes that they plan on reinserting into the film sound intriguing as Muschietti promised an extra 15 minutes worth of new footage for hardcore fans, detailing one scene that he felt was difficult to cut revolving around Stanley Uris' bar mitzvah.

“There’s a great scene, it’s a bit of a payoff of the Stanley Uris plot which is the bar mitzvah, where he delivers a speech against all expectations… it’s basically blaming all the adults of Derry [for the town’s history of deadly 'accidents' and child disappearances], and it has a great resolution. … Maybe it will be in the director’s cut!”

He also teased a "very funny" extended version of the quarry scene.

“After the spitting contest it escalates into something that is completely weird and irrelevant to the scene but is so funny. Jack Grazer, who plays Eddie, does something that is completely bonkers.”

Are you excited to see the new footage? Do these sound like scenes that should have been in the version currently playing in theaters? Sound off down below!

@four20smoke - it's up there for me as well. I wasn't too scared, but I really don't scare easy with movies, but everything about it was really enjoyable and very entertaining

Just got back from seeing it. Had a lot of fun. It's kind of like Goonies meets Nightmare on Elms Street.

Awesome. This is the first horror film I've ever seen that actually made me want to go see it a second time in theaters.

I wondered about that dialogue in one of the teasers. Sounds like the Bar Mitzvah scene wasn't 100% necessary to the plot, but Stan as a character was very underserved, so I'm interested in seeing if it rounds him out somewhat.

Overall, a great ride of a movie, and one I definitely intend to see again, which I can't say for most horror films.

Not scary at all, I wasn't impressed and even contemplated taking a nap at one point. Huge let down after a tremendous build up.
