The Scream television series has received much controversy from fans due to the changes it has made to the Ghostface character, as well as mixed to negative reviews from critics. There have even been rumours of a possible cancelation. But love it or hate it, we will be seeing more of the series. MTV has announced a second season of the serialised horror reboot, which will presumably begin airing in 2016.

Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of Dimension Films, had the following to say on the matter: "We couldn’t be happier that Scream has been renewed for a second season and that we have a wonderful working relationship with Doug Herzog, Stephen Friedman, Susanne Daniels, Mina Lefevre and her team. The Scream franchise has been such a huge part of our history and to watch it evolve, find a new generation of fans and succeed at MTV makes this all the more sweet. We promise even more scares, surprises, romance and of course kills in season two."

MTV must be very confident in the series to make such a renewal this early on. With the first season of the series focusing on the grounded origins of Ghostface and the mystery behind his identity, it's hard to imagining the reveal of the character's identity not having a profound effect on the seasons to come.

What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past. Don't miss new episodes of SCREAM every Tuesday at 10/9c on MTV.

I'm pretty happy with this. It's not a perfect show but I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm just curious if the second season will maintain (essentially)the same cast and location.

@MrSotoMan

Scream is one of that horror movies that really you cant [frick] up a lot if you follow the original movie and try to explain a little bit more the back story, even i find that mask more creepy that the original one.

But the next seasons i dont know, this is the kind of series that have one good season and after it becomes Scream 2, Scream 3 and Scream 4 all over again.
