I think it deserves it.since backlash is only from cbm community.general public likes it.

I've seen people outside the CBM community say they weren't a fan of it.

General public likes it, critics like it. The comicbook community is actually pretty divided on it. I personally enjoyed it. Not a bad movie but definitely is one of the weaker MCU movies. Not a single MCU is below good IMO. I expected it to gross over a billion but... I don't think it deserves it. Comicbook fans don't like it cause it's got a dark tone but still feels light hearted and the fact they made the Mandarin work in a more successful way.

I really wish Transformers 3 would get knocked out of the top 5. I don't think it deserves to be there. I know a lot of people don't think Avatar deserves to be #1, but that movie at least had some redeeming value and an actual plot (Pocahontas ripoff or not). Dark of the Moon was just not good. I wonder if it'll take Star Wars VII or Avengers 2 to knock it out.

Um... cool? I thought this was a gimmie, tbh. IM3 was a fun ride for sure, but I'm not a huge fan of the character, so I didn't have a personal stake against the treatment of the Mandarin.

However, as a comic fan, it did unsettle me even though I can't understand why. I guess it was just on principal, knowing how a character got screwed over. I do think it would have been cooler if the Mandarin really was the Mandarin, because he was a way cooler character than the guy with the yellow teeth and Syndrome-complex (I honestly can't remember his name).

It wasn't that surprising, given the Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo debacle. But even with that and the strange flimsy armors, I though IM3 was a real IMAX blast. Great for fun, wouldn't buy. But for what it's worth, I'm glad it's doing so well financially. The IM franchise is the only one from Marvel I really love on its own.

Yes it deserves the spot but does not change the fact that they strayed away from the source material and just made a comedy!

I'm just hope that the future of MS does not turn into a Disney style comedy.

Next: Skyfall. Will it beat THE AVENGERS and RETURN OF THE KING? Marvel is really enjoying this, they got some good money coming in, should stop being so cheap.

I don't get it, why is everyone expecting a flame war from this?

@Brainiac3000: The overall tone was dark and it does have some very serious moments. Unfortunately, the overkill on the humor and them inserting humor in unnecessary places is really what killed it. It's not blatantly obvious like The Dark Knight Rises, X-Men: The Last Stand or Spider-Man 3. But, the overall tone is a darker tone.

The question everyone should be asking themselves is how the hell did that crappy Burton Wonderland movie make so much money?

this third Iron Man installment was not better The Dark KnightRises(3rd movie), Skyfall(3rd movie)or Lord Of the Rings The Return of the King(3rd movie) but its definitely better than Transfomers 3 so im glad Iron Man 3 will soon beat Transformers 3. Iron Man 3 also has a chance to beat Harry Potter 8 and become the fourth highest grossing movie behind Avengers, Titanic and Avatar.

78 rating on RT, but a "not so glowing reviews from critics" makes perfect sense.

the main reason I didn't like the movie was because of the superhero pepper potts killing the villain, then second was mandarin being an actor and third was the stupid comedy. I don't think it was a bad movie like green lantern, it was a good movie if you can get over what I said above.
I really miss what marvel did with the first iron man and the incredible hulk in 2008 at that time their movies were action/adventure but now it seems that they are going towards new territory with comedy/action. it doesn't mean its a bad thing but I like more serious and realistic setting on movies.

@0megaDaGod

I do agree with you but the GA saw this as a light hearted comic book comedy.

The 2nd time I saw this was with my boys and they loved it and could enjoy it with them.

I just don't want anymore MS films to go in this direction.

Do you want this type of tone in future MS movies?
