A quick editorial on what I think is next for Iron Man 3's villains.

One thing puzzles me, after building up to the Mandarin for 3 movies and adding a twist, why kill him at the end? It does not make sense. That character can go much further, and with a great actor like Guy Pearce then they really can take him anywhere. With his powers and the potential to somehow introduce the ten rings as an actual weapon, he could be a match for the avengers. And I believe he may still be alive. If he can survive a building falling on him and an armor exploding around him then i'm sure a repulsor blast into some rubble will not finish him. Further more, he seemed to be the most powerful most likely due to being one of the first to be injected with it. So I believe he could have survived and may be a villain in a future marvel movie. Which brings me to the other character who I would like to see return and whom I think it is likely they will.

If Maya Hansen created the extremis formula why did she not use it on herself? Sure she had no motif as there was no visible disability and there was no mention and sure she could have thought it was too unstable to use but we never actually see her die. She falls out of shot as we think she dies but who is to say she didn't manage to give herself extremis in her dieing moments. In my ideal world this would scar her face leading her to become Madame Masque. She could be after Tony for leaving her to die. Maybe returning in future movies.

As I final comment (I know he isn't a villain) I would also like to say that I believe the President will return again. Having a constant figure like this in the MCU is a nice way to build continuity and killing him off eventually could have real impact. Plus he can play a huge part in possible events to come such as civil war.

I know it was a brief article but I wanted to share some of my thoughts. Thank you for reading.

I agree with you about Pierce. I really liked what they did with his character, and I really hope he's still alive. I would love to see him return to form the Masters of Evil or some variation of it. Maya Hansen I can do without. I didn't really like her that much in IM3, so I don't think she should be Madame Masque. The President, however, does need to return. Hopefully, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Avengers 2. And I agree with you about his death. I think he should die at some point. But it should be a big villain to do it, in order to show their real threat and danger.

i think mr killian is alive as well, mainly because we dont really know how they killed any of the extremis soldiers like u said killian survived a explosion that he was at the centre of and savin survived a blast the head but then after he seems to have died taking a uni beam to the stomach area. but i definately think hes alive.

I think Savin could be alive also but due to maybe some cyborg technology hence becoming firepower. The extremis fire linked with cyborg technology.

savin is coldblood not firepower

That is what I meant...
However coldblood does also have a technological element.

I dont know how people would feel about this idea I've been having, but here it is:

What if The whole time The Ten Rings organazation had no idea that The Mamdarin was an actor, that they thought he was their true leader all along. After Killian dies the organazation look to " actor Mandarin " as to what to do next. Seeing as how he was hired and basically bought with drugs and some sense of power, right then and there he decides why not continue the ruse, now he can have anything he wants and with all the power of The Ten Rings group backing him up he is now untouchable. He truly takes up the mantle of The Mandarin and assumes leadership and continues on with any terrorist work the group does, leaving him and the group open to return later.

i think what would be really interesting is if the actor Mandarin finds the real power rings that perhaps Killain had been hinding. He knew they had some sort of power and could never unlock it. However, something could happen like Thanos unlocks their powers and Slattery finds them, the power makes him more ruthless and the TRUE mandarin arrives.

I still think that Killian was the TRUE Mandarin.

@Bane5000

That's probably the best idea I've heard.

Oh and yeah William Saddler should totally return for Cap 2.

hey guys, I'm new to these sites but a big fan of the Iron Man movies...saw you guys talking about the 'ten rings'...I honestly have no idea what that is (never read the comic, more of a Dark Horse kid growing up), but did you notice Sir Ben K wearing the rings in Iron Man 3? I just saw the movie today and then juust watched a youtube video discussing Iron Man 4 theories and it had clips from the movie and one of the shots was of the 'Mandarin's' hands...with a ring on each finger. Could he be the actual Mandarin?
