The new Judge Dredd movie featuring Karl Urban as Judge Dredd finished filming on the second last weekend of February in Cape Town, South Africa. Eye Witness News spoke to Cape Town Film Studios' Chief Executive Officer Nico Dekker about the shoot. He told them it was difficult shooting the movie while they were still finishing construction on the studio.

"It was quite a challenge and the film itself was very demanding and is still demanding in the sense that it is the first 3-D action film to be shot in the African continent,” he said.

High hopes with grittier versions of Dredd and Conan coming out. The right and only way it should be done!

I hope they get this right. The Stallone version just looked too polished.
I think Dredd is a similar franchise to the Punisher whereas it's going to be impossible to get it right unless the people making it are true fans of the character.
You just couldn't feel the extra love in the first movie, it reminded me of Lethal Weapon meets Demolition Man.
What makes me potentially eager for this movie is Urban is good at nailing characters and he's versatile. The writing and directing are what could possibly hold this back.
