I woke up early this morning with Ragnorak still reeling fresh in my mind. It was an epic end to Thor’s trilogy. Marvel has taken all niches and merged it into one fantastic rollercoaster of a ride. From the very opening scene you are certain you are in for a treat.
Chris finally gets to shine as he should as the Norse God of Thunder in what may or not be the final Thor movie. We get to see a more evolved Thor; he has grown up from his childish ignorance and even picked up some snarky new Earthly traits. He has become a very balanced character which can play of well against Hulk or Loki. Gone is the dumb blonde from the first movie.
Loki is back, surprise, surprise. Yes Marvel’s best villain returns to capture our hearts and maybe fight alongside his brother for once. Has Loki truly changed or does he have one last trick up his sleeve? Well he keeps you guessing till the end…
Hulk Back! Hulk has vocabulary! Yep it’s no secret the Green Goliath has surfaced and can talk. We finally get a small peak into Hulks mind as his limited speech helps us understand him. And maybe I am just a softy but Hulk has a big heart.
All of the big 3 above deliver some well-placed comedic timing. Watching the trailer I always had a small reservation that this would be a long one liner sizzle reel but the comedy is executed to perfection. It doesn’t lessen the severity of any threat. There is touching moments and Dr Strange’s cameo which is always entertaining.
Well its standard Marvel warfare, generic threat for domination that needs to be stopped. Let’s be honest anything more complex with need Avenging. But does that maketh a bad movie? No. Hell No. In fact we get to peel back layers of Asgard (finally) and see what is really there. We get a movie that isn’t set on Earth for once. From beginning to end the film never lets you go and breathes fresh life into Marvel’s often considered boring franchise.
With an unorthodox yet strangely fitting soundtrack and highly stylised visuals this maybe another billion dollar notch in Marvel’s very large belt.
