BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Has Been Postponed; Javier Bardem And Angelina Jolie Still On Board... For Now
Universal has decided to pause production on the Bride of Frankenstein remake in order to work on the script, but the movie's prospective stars are reportedly willing to wait it out for the time being...
The Mummy was not exactly a great start for Universal's Dark Universe, but the studio is clearly hoping that the second installment in the rebooted horror franchise fares better, as they've paused production in order to get the script up to scratch.
According to Deadline, Bill Condon's Bride of Frankenstein had actually began pre-production in London but the director and studio execs decided to send the crew home for the time being while they get things in order.
“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein,” Universal said in a statement . “None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”
We had been led to believe that Javier Bardem had already signed on to play Frankenstein's monster but this report states that he's still only in talks, along with Angelina Jolie who is in line to play his reluctant bride. Apparently, both actors are willing to wait it out, but have decided not to fully commit "until this all gets rectified."
