Namor Movie Still Being Worked On

Namor Movie Still Being Worked On

The man behind "The Surrogates", Jonathan Mostow is writing the Namor script.

Mostow said that the film of Marvel's first mutant is in the works:

"These characters have been around forever and to really do justice to them and make the right movie, you have to get the script right," Mostow told MTV News. "So we're still working on that and we'll see. With everything Marvel, we like to keep it in a shroud of secrecy."

Bill Everette created the Sub-Mariner first appearing in 1939. Namor made his first appearance in "Marvel Comics" #1 published by Marvel's predecessor, Timely Comics.

This from MTV:
"Born of a human sailor and an Atlantean princess, Namor made a name for himself by ruling the oceans and battling Nazis and other menaces alongside Captain America and others during World War II.

Though Namor would later resurge as a recurring antihero in Marvel's "Fantastic Four" series, with that franchise now seemingly in limbo, having Namor tie into the upcoming "Captain America: The First Avenger" franchise isn't implausible, story-wise. However, Universal currently owns the rights to the "Sub-Mariner" movie, so any overlap in the Marvel Studios world is highly unlikely."

And that really stinks as it would be nice to see Namor match wits with the Fantastic Four fighting the Human Torch. Or see Namor help Captain America out like he has so many times in the comics. Marvel really needs to get their ducks in a row as far as properties are concerned. As soon as they do, just imagine the possibilities.

ummmm, not even gonna say anything. Except this, hopefully it comes out before any Aquaman film, whichever one comes out first wins cuz the other will be called a knock off.

CAP @ You might be right, alot of ppl know AQUAMAN but not alot know about NAMOR!

Personally i cant wait for both movies!!!

I'll agree with you there @ TEABAG! ;P

JMAN @ Yeah it would be cool to see a cameo of NAMOR, even if its a couple of seconds in the CAPTAIN AMERICA!

Your easily pleased CAP lol! He wouldn't be bad ol' ROSWELL boy but i think VIN DIESEL with abit of HAIR and blue contacts with a bit of work on his gravel voice could own NAMOR!!! ; )

Marvel needs to get their properties back so they can handle them the RIGHT way and do crossovers.

I would know its Vin when he opens his mouth and gravelly shite comes out! I hate his "acting".

I don't know that Behr dude but he looks the part anyway.

Someone mentioned Hugo Weaving on another article. I think he would be great but maybe a bit over the hill now...

@lee

What are you thinking, Van doesn't look that part at all, not to mention he doesn't have the body type to play the part.

LEEE777
LEEE777 - 8/14/2009, 9:36 AM
CAP @ Heh heh! ; D

YOHON @ He's got the exact same body as NAMOR???

Mike @ FOX ain't got the rights, have they?? I thought MARVEL did, considering they was talking TRILOGY or something!

I reckon NAMOR deserves his own movie, it can span from WWII to today with UNDER WATER problems we face etc, and just imagine the under water battles!!!

InTylerWeTrust - 8/14/2009, 11:28 AM
Diesel is a horrible actor. No to him in any superhero roles.

Luke Goss is my definite pick for Namor! (though Behr would be good to ;) @ teabag)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 8/14/2009, 11:30 AM
I would give him a pass for Panthro because he just looks so much like him..but he sucks in everything i'v seen him in since Pitch Black. Talondt i never saw a man apart because by that stage i had seen him stink up the screen in too many movies.
CRITIC17
CRITIC17 - 8/14/2009, 11:32 AM
@Tyler: Yeah!!! Luke Goss would be a perfect Namor!!!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 8/14/2009, 11:32 AM
ROR @ You didn't like RIDDICK??? That was a great movie man!

Luke Goss is a gay boi ex BROS singer that cant act for sh!T @ CRITIC! ; D
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 8/14/2009, 11:35 AM
And Diesel is an ex babysitter who can only "act" when he talks in a gravelly voice.
