It was announced that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences would archive all Mondo posters moving forward, the first time the group has ever done that outside of the official studio art. Mondo has been praised for helping to bring art back to poster.

Alot of them have been posted on the site this past year, and i for one love it. most of them have a 60s grind house movie look to them, and im ok with that.

But none the less its still art. i looked through there website archive and noticed that most of the posters they picked to redo are horror/comic book/scifi movies and some older cartoons.

yahoo tried to do some best of 2011 and i thought there picks, well kinda sucked, so i went and made my own best of 2011 posters

my list may be alot, but to pick out of 145, 20 isnt that bad

Couldn't agree more. As cool as some of the newer stuff is, These posters hearken back to a day when Hollywood actually meant something and show off true talent. Nice work Nucky Poo

Now those are some bad ass posters!

Some don't fit though. For instance, the Jurassic Park poster, the art nouveau style doesn't fit the movie type. I couldn't agree more on the subject, where has the art gone in movie posters? Now it's all half assed stills that are Photoshoped together with zero consideration to the actual composition.

@Stumblin how does the J.P. poster not fit? looks like at the end of part 1 when the the rex eats the rapters and that banner falls down in front of him ; )

@marvel72... yes and sabbly the past 20 years we have lost all that great stuff. its to easy for the studios to just to do shitty work that some 15 year old can do better now

those were great. I remember how posters were paintings and they were actual art. Great stuff. bring back old school.

These posters are fantastic and I completely agree that many movie posters are losing that artistic feel.
