Dark Reign: Dark Times for Marvel

Okay, I admit, I'm reasonably new to comics. I was always one of those geeks who was aware of comics, knew all about the characters and what was going on, just never read them. After I saw the new Iron Man flick, I felt compelled to finally jump in. Luckily, Secret Invasion was just starting, a new Iron Man comic arc was starting, and it was a great time to join the legions of Marvel fans. Why not DC? Because DC is lame. Superman, the boy scout, Batman has no real powers, Aquaman is just...lame; the Flash? Green Lantern? come on. DC is old and outdated. So I read Marvel.

Then, browsing through my local comic book store, I saw Batman R.I.P. Batman, dead? Okay, I'll read it, after all, it is Batman. No matter what your opinion of R.I.P. was it was incredibly interesting, and you wanted to see what happened. By this time, Secret Invasion was wearing thin. They were in the jungle, still fighting, guessing who each other really was. Boy, six issues of that didn't get old. But I was new to comics, and thought Marvel would get better.

As Batman got more and more intricate, I figured I'd read Nightwing, and I thought I'd give Superman a try. I had no real interest in him, in my mind he was always too powerful, too perfect, so what drama could there be? But then, Superman was getting beaten by Atlas, and his dog saved the day. It was strange, but oddly interesting. Months later, I'm beggining to become very tired of Marvel. Don't get me wrong, Dark Reign is going to be great, especially Iron Man and Thunderbolts, but Spider man is dragging, Daredevil should be renamed Matt Murdock, the New Avengers are up in arms about Luke Cage's baby, and the only remnant from Secret Invasion which won't be undone in a few months is the Wasp's death (big deal?). While this is happening, Metropolis is invaded by hundreds of Kryptonians, Batman has disappeared, and Final Crisis is far more compelling than Secret Invasion ever dreamed of.

Am I the only one seeing and experiencing this?
