EDITORIAL: The CW Plan

CW is developing an Hour-Man show, so if that gets the greenlight it will almost certainly tie-in with Arrow and the Flash.

I don't hate Arrow or Flash. I dislike the heavy soap opera aspects of both shows and that they don't seem to really be going any ware. I mean... I'm just not impressed. What's the difference between the 2 shows? Not the characters, I mean the shows. Exceptional person fights crimes committed by other exceptional people while navigating person issues. Green or Red, rich or science based... that's what both shows are. Cool action scenes and appearances by recognizable comic characters and soap opera love stories. They are the same dam show. That's problem number 1 with the WB formula for me. Problem 2 is they are simply throwing as many shows out there as they can and then figuring it out as they go. Problem 3. They insist on making every important character have his/her origin tied into the main character. There is literally nothing really interesting about either show. They are mildly enjoyable but when you strip them.down, it's the same show. And to make it even worse for me... Oliver is basically Bruce Wayen except with Arrows (hell, he's even got a "Bat family!") and Barry has ALOT OF PETER PARKER in his character. There's no innovation on either show, in either plot or in either character. It's frustrating. I try and I try to watch these two shows and I just cant. I seriously feel like the writers and producers are laughing at us.

How about a Justice League show instead?

I don't think Atom or Firestorm is going to get their own shows.

The way I see it, this should happen:

Arrow = The "Batman" of the group
Flash = The "Superman" of the group

A third show, preferably led by a female character, should complete the Trinity and represent the "Wonder Woman" of the group.

I'm not really a fan of Robbie's he in my opinion, was the weakest link in the Tomorrow People. So I don't see a Firestorm show happening. I also don't see a Black Canary show happening either. Remember Birds of Prey? That didn't go so well and I really don't think Arrow's universe of Black Canary can carry the show. You have to remember CW is or was planing a live action Young Justice show. I could see Dinah Lance being the den mother in that show. Just like she was shown in the animated universe.

There is no chance of a Black Canary show with Katie Cassidy. There's too much of a mixed reaction to her character.

I think an Atom show is more likely than a Firestorm show, but my hunch is the next show will be female led. If they tie Berlantis CBS Supergirl show in, and maybe make a Zatanna show, they'll have their rich guy, their earthbound superhero, an alien and a magic/supernatural character.

They should make a series called All-Star Squadron where they focus on the minor superheroes, maybe a new one each week which eventually develops into a team-up. Or even better, make miniseries of each character and then a team-up series, kind of Marvel-esque.

An Assassin's Creed anthology series would be great too!! Would allow them to cast big name actors/actresses for a season or two and then move onto a different character and time period.

I like that a lot. Especially since it seems Fassbender's Assassin's Creed movie is still in question.

Agreed. The future/present-day story should be small fraction of the series, much like the games. Give just enough of a taste every so often so viewers remain some what interested, but don't forget about it either. And with it being a fraction of the series, maybe they could entice Kristen Bell to play the live action version of her character from the games, in a supporting role.

Also, agree the pseudo-anthology series approach is best. Keep Desmond and future/present-day characters the same, but Desmond's ancestor, location and time period change every season or two. There's so much they could cover in Italy alone with all the cities, characters and architecture, I wouldn't mind if it's the focus of the first season or two before changing time period/ancestor. Same as the first three AC games focused on various cities/time periods in Italy before moving elsewhere. Not to mention, if they end up doing a lot of CGI/sFX for architecture they'd want to get everything out of it, before relocating.
