Fans wish to make an Avatar: The Last Airbender Film

A lot of fans were... let down, to say the least when they saw M. Night Shyamalan's 'Last Airbender'. Some fans have set out to fix that by setting up a crowd funded project on IndieGoGo. They wish to make a live action movie based off of the comic book trilogy "The Search" which follows our heroes as they search for Zuko's mother.

There are a lot of different things that can become of fan films. There are a lot of awesome ones, and there are a lot of bad ones. I however refuse to believe that after "The Last Airbender" anyone can do worse by the epic source material. To make the film the group is asking for 18 thousand dollars within the timeframe of 45 days. The incentives range from a copy of the film on dvd to costumes to board games to full on producer credits on the film.

Interestingly, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko originally pitched Ursa's fate as the plot for a television movie of the same title, but Nickelodeon rejected the idea, which led to the comic trilogy instead.

Zuko's mother Ursa has been missing for years and Ozai is the only person who may know her whereabouts. Unable to extract the information from their father himself, Zuko releases Azula from the mental institution in the hopes that Ozai will entrust her with their mother's location. When Azula retrieves a letter hidden within one of Ozai's bunkers, Team Avatar agrees to travel with the royal siblings in order to help them find their mother. The content of the letter could be the key to Ursa's whereabouts, but it also holds a well kept secret that will give Zuko a whole new reason to find his long-lost mother.

M. Night Shyamalan should direct...
...traffic near the junction of IndieGoGo studios
so auditioners have something to laugh about on their way in

They really should do this. Obviously it'd be a million times better than M. Night Shyamalamadingdong's travesty.

M Night Shyamalan would be the best choice to direct a Godfather remake.

Maybe because I was never much of a fan to begin with, or because I had recently seen the incredibly awful Percy Jackson the week beforehand, but I didn't think airbender was nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.

The only real complaint I had about it was that it was utterly joyless for a children's movie

I am more of a Legend of Korra fan. But I wish them luck none the same. But I hope they got permission from Paramount first or they will be getting a C&D soon.

@TheLokey As a movie it was utterly pointless and forgetable because it had a great idea but no spirit at all. Just tell me, did you even care about the characters or believe in the relationships? No, you didn't, it was all forced. As an adaptation it was even a hundred times worse. The series is amazing and my favorite animated show of all time, hell, one of my favorite things of all time, but the movie had none of the spirit it, it skipped over amazing episodes from the first season(all of them) and it didn't even end up being a decent film. Talk about raping your childhood. This is the Star Wars of tv shows in that it pays homage to what the creators loved growing up but it is still it's own original thing. If it was done right then this could be one of the highest grossing movies of all time maybe even surpass Avatar with one of the installements. Legend of Korra is a good follow up because it takes some of the elements and it still manages to stand out a bit. However it still needs to go a long way to be as good and as epic as the original series is, hopefully that will happen within the next two seasons. Right now it has just a few more episodes than the first season of Avatar so it's understandable. I grew up on this series and now I have Legend to watch which is great.

Vimeo sucks. I can't watch anything because it's slow as shit, and when it does buffer you can't watch it in fullscreen without the video getting all messed up!
