Mars Ravelo's DARNA-The Official Website has been relaunched by its owner, Mr. Eric Cueto and now has a new home on http://www.marsravelodarna.net
Originally published in 1947 under the name "VARGA", she was relaunched in 1950 by her creator through another publishing company under the name that fans everywhere would know her by- "DARNA". In 1951, the first DARNA movie starring the late Filipina-American Actress named Rosa Del Rosario (Rose Stagner in real life) which launched the character to greater popularity in film.
There have been 14 Darna movies since 1951 and 3 TV series with the most recent one starring Spanish-Filipina actress, Marian Rivera that ran from August, 2009 to February 2010 with 140 episodes.
In addition to Character Bios, Specs, and origins, the new site also features her creator, Mars Ravelo's bio as well as both Official merchandise as well as Customized Dolls, Action figures, trading cards, masks crafted by Darna's many talented fans.
Not only does it feature the profiles of her classic opponents (Valentina, Armida-Babaing Lawin, Roma and her Impakta twin, Lutgarda the leech woman, and Lucifera-Babaing Tuod) but it also features some of her latter foes who have not appeared in the live-action versions of Darna. Foes such as Diyabolika, Dyangga, The Black Mercury and more ! Although Darna has been enjoying television popularity in recent years, It is still the hope of many fans to once again thrill to the adventures of Asia's First Superheroine on the big screen once more. In this era of piracy and dwindling box office profits at the movies, can an actual Darna movie still be produced? Only time will tell.
