DUNE: PART TWO's Digital And Blu-ray Release Dates Revealed Along With Full List Of Special Features

Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is set to Arrakis for Dune: Messiah, and while we wait to learn more about his plans for the threequel, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has today shared plans for Dune: Part Two's upcoming digital and physical media release.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com earlier today, the sequel will hit Digital platforms on April 16, a mere 45 days after it first arrived in theaters. Then, on May 14, Dune: Part Two will be made available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

In terms of special features, there will be plenty for Dune fans to delve into. However, there's no mention of deleted scenes, meaning we won't get to see whatever cut actors Tim Blake Nelson and Stephen McKinley Henderson shot for Part Two.

"I’m a strong believer that when it’s not in the movie, it’s dead," Villeneuve recently said of his decision to leave deleted scenes on the cutting room floor. "Sometimes I remove shots and I say, ‘I cannot believe I’m cutting this out. I feel like a samurai opening my gut. It’s painful, so I cannot go back after that and create a Frankenstein and try to reanimate things that I killed. It’s too painful."

"When it’s dead, it’s dead, and it’s dead for a reason. But yes, it is a painful project, but it is my job. The movie prevails," he added. "I’m very severe in the editing room. I’m not thinking about my ego, I’m thinking about the movie. I kill darlings, and it’s painful for me."

I have not purchased physical media in about 15 years. For Dune...I will make an exception.

They need to top releasing movies so soon on digital and streaming. Claude audiences will not turn up to see movies in theaters when they can wait it out

DUNE 1 and 2 are like the Japanese wrestling of sci fi movies - slow start, slow burn and then holy [frick]ing balls what a go home to the finish.

Only the Lisan al Gaib would be wise enough to not include deleted scenes in the DVD!!

I've seen it 3 times in the Atmos theater witch is supposed to be comparable to IMAX. We dont have Imax in my town, is it worth it to drive 45 min to see it in IMAX?

@narrow290 - Saw it in IMAX as 2 locations in LA. One had the 70MM IMAX so it was the 4:3 Aspect Ratio the other was Laser IMAX in Full screen. To be honest I don’t think you’re missing much. I snuck into a Dolby Showing for a few minutes while waiting to watch another movie. Dolby is probably similar to Atmos but if you have the funds and the time I saw go for it. I actually wanted to watch it a 3rd time in Dolby but since Dune is taking up all the IMAX screens they started playing others movies in its stead for higher format viewers
