HBO's upcoming Dune prequel series, The Sisterhood, has added another new cast member, with former Vikings actor Travis Fimmel on board as a mysterious new character who's believed to be the main villain of the piece.

According to Variety, Fimmel will play the male lead Desmond Hart, who is described as “a charismatic soldier with an enigmatic past, who seeks to gain the Emperor’s trust at the expense of the Sisterhood.”

Fimmel will probably be best-known for his role as Ragnar Lothbrok in the History Channel's long-running Vikings series. He also played Anduin Lothar in the Warcraft movie, and appeared in HBO Max's recently cancelled science-fiction show Raised by Wolves.

He joins Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma as the show's leads, and more recent additions Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds and Chloe Lea in key supporting roles.

The Sisterhood is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, and follows the Harkonnen Sisters, played by Watson and Henderson, as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.

Diane Ademu-John is on board as creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer, with Alison Schapker serving as co-showrunner and EP. Johan Renck will direct the premiere episode and executive produce, while Dune Parts 1 and 2 director Denis Villeneuve is also executive producing.

No premiere date has been announced.

Glad to see's him coming back. I always thought he was good at playing the 'not a hero' type.

While i wasn't a big fan of Raised by Wolves, i was interested so how it was going to end for his character. Alas, wasn't meant to be.

I'm not usually the one to harp on actors, but I thought he really was dragging down Vikings after a solid 1st season.
I was glad when he left, the show got better again. IMO.

@mdwilliamson24 - IMO he was the only interesting thing left after a couple of seasons. Tried to continue to watch it after he left but the series was so bad at that point. Even if I only have like a season and a half left I couldn't finish it.

@ElvenKingSlayer - He was absolutely fantastic in Vikings, one of my favorite tv roles ever actually. Show severely suffered without him in it. I also never finished but i made it further. I left during the finale season when I realized I just didn't care any more about anything in the show. Last straw for me was when SPOILER ALERT...Lagertha was killed off.

@WarMonkey - I totally agree!
Yeah I heard from friends they killed her. Doesn't sound like I would've liked that either since she was one redeeming quality still in the show.

After seeing him on 'Raised by Wolves' I felt he could be a good option to play DC's BLIGHT or Reverse Flash or Marvel's Molecule Man or Michael Korvac

I really enjoyed and to this day still enjoy watching the Warcraft movie. It should have gotten a sequel.
