Will Dune: Part Two be a box office success, leading Warner Bros. to greenlight a third installment in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy?

The first film had an unprecedented release in 2021, with simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max releases due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, it still earned $402 million worldwide on an estimated production budget of $165 million.

Many sci-fi fans speculated that if the pandemic hadn't influenced WB's theatrical release plans, the film would have made far more money at the global box office.

Three years later, fans will be able to put that hypothesis to the test when Dune: Part Two opens in North American theaters next month.

To promote the sequel's release Warner Bros. Discovery has released 2 new TV spots. Check them out below.

Additionally, two new character featurettes have been released, focusing on Austin Butler's Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan.

In recent Dune: Part Two news, Denis Villeneuve let it be known that he's interested in filming a third installment in the film series but he'll probably exit the franchise despite the fact that there are several more books in  Frank Herbert's sweeping sci-fi saga.

The film features an exceptional cast with Timothée Chalamet starring as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck and Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.

Also appearing in supporting roles are Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot Fenring, Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Charlotte Rampling as Gaius Helen Mohiam and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.

Dune: Part Two is currently set to be released on March 01, 2024. The film was originally set for release on November 3, 2023 but was pushed back due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA Hollywood strike.

Do you plan on seeing the film in theaters? Let us know in the comment section below.

Dune: Part Two Official Synopsis
Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Denis Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel.

Was the first Dune any good? I never watched it.

@HammerLegFoot - I personally thought it was very good but it felt like it ended in the middle of the story so I'm looking forward to the sequel.

@HammerLegFoot - Depends on who you ask. For me, it instantly became one of my favorite movies. There are others who think that not much goes on, it's just set up for the sequel or that it's boring. I say if you like most of Villneuve's previous work, chances are you'll like this one as well.

@HammerLegFoot - I think it was excellent to a lot of people familiar with the story but it seems to be a common consensus that it was a little sleepy for those that aren't familiar. That's pretty understandible since the first one was basically setting up the chess board for part 2. I would highly recommend it though because I think people are going to be pretty surprised by this next installment. It's looking epic so far and far bettyer the the 80s David Lynch version.

@HammerLegFoot - It was amazing but light on action. This part 2 should more than make up for it.

@HammerLegFoot - If it helps, because of part 1, Part 2 is literally the only film which I'm genuinely and optimistically looking forward to watching this year.

@HammerLegFoot - imo, it was FANTASTIC, but as mountainman said, its light on action

@ProfessorWhy - As someone who adores Hans Zimmer, this was one of my least favorite scores from him. Works in the movie, but not good to listen to outside of that.

@Forthas - honestly, Tenet is Nolan's worst movie... and thats saying something cuz it wasnt awful, but it was def a major let down. think he tried to bite off more than he could handle

@TheBlueMorpho -

I'll hop on that bandwagon.
I've never read the books, or watched the original movie, so Part 1 was my first introduction to Dune and I really didn't find anything impressive about the movie outside of the visuals and sound design.

It seems like a good movie for established Dune fans, but maybe not so much for people who are being introduced to it for the first time.

I could walk up to 10 people on the street and ask about Dune Part 1 and I can almost guarantee none of them know what I'm talking about.

@TheBlueMorpho - was way too washed out and drab to capture Herbert's imagination
