KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES And DUNE: PART TWO Get New Release Date In Wake Of Recent MCU Delays

Marvel Studios' upcoming slate of movies recently underwent some big release date changes, but there is good news where sci-fi titles Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Dune: Part Two are concerned.

Marvel Studios aren't alone in making big release date changes this week. In the wake of Blade moving from November 3, 2023 to September 6, 2024, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have nabbed the Daywalker's original slot for Dune: Part Two

The sequel had been scheduled for November 17, 2023, keeping it safe from what was likely to be a massive hit for Marvel Studios. Now, it's landed a prime spot in a month that promises to give the Dune sequel the chance to be a box office success. The first movie was hampered by a day-and-date HBO Max release, but this one will forego streaming for a big screen release.

In Dune: Part Two, we'll explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavours to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

In other sci-fi news, 20th Century Studios' has confirmed that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be released in theaters during Memorial Day weekend, starting May 24, in 2024.

Unlike other Fox franchises inherited by Disney, the next instalment in the Planet of the Apes series is getting a theatrical release. This is in stark contrast to the likes of Predator, Home Alone, and Ice Age, all of which have gone down the streaming route thanks to Disney+ and Hulu.

Starring Owen Teague, Freya Allen, and Peter Macon, Wes Ball is directing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film starts an all-new chapter in the Planet of the Apes saga, picking up many years after the conclusion of 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes.

After those big MCU delays, it's nice to have some good news. Not only does Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes have a release date, but we're also getting Dune: Part Two a couple of weeks early. That's no bad thing.

I'm so exited and worried at the same time for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The new Apes Trilogy is one of my favorites of all time. It's so good. I'm hoping this one doesn't become a regular action movie, but still retains that deeper context and meaning. Fingers crossed that this one (and hopefully more to come) can come close to the quality of the new trilogy.

This past Apes trilogy was absolutely phenomenal I think. I doubt it will be topped but we’ll see. Even if it’s not as good as Dawn, or War at least we’ll still get to see…APES GOING APESHIT

The last trilogy was pretty great, so I'm really glad they are putting Kingdom on the big screen. Even if I have to wait a little longer now. Just wish Prey got the same treatment.
