Legendary's MonsterVerse spin-off series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on November 17, and following the recent full trailer, the streaming service has debuted a new poster which gives us some idea of the scale of a certain King of the Monsters.

The key art features three of the show's human characters looking on in awe as Godzilla's gargantuan plates rise up from the forest.

The review embargo for Monarch recently lifted, and critics seemed to be very impressed by the series overall, as it currently sits at a not-too-shabby 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Legacy of Monsters is set after the events of 2014's Godzilla reboot, as San Francisco struggles to rebuild in the wake of the Titan's epic battle against the MUTOs. According to an updated synopsis from TV guide, the story "will focus on Cate, who survives the San Francisco showdown and travels to Japan to find her missing father. It is there she learns of a shocking betrayal, and Cate must team up with her half-brother and an American hacker to discover her family's ties with the mysterious organization known as Monarch."

Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye) developed the project, and the first two episodes were helmed by WandaVision and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman.

Shakman recently confirmed that Big G will be joined by plenty of other well-known Titans in the small-screen spin-off, but didn't reveal exactly which creatures will feature.

The first five episodes of Monarch were recently made available to critics, and, speaking as someone who really doesn't care for the MonsterVerse movies, I was pleasantly surprised - although Kaiju fans might be a little disappointed by the lack of actual monster action.

Check out the poster along with the full trailer below.

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real," reads the synopsis for the 10-episode series, "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch." "Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stars Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell (who play the same character across two different timelines) along with Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Mari Yamamoto, Ren Watabe, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Apple Plus has been consistently good with their series, looking forward to it.

@ModHaterSLADE - Came here to leave the same comment. Apple + seems to be catching up to HBO in the quality show category. Silo and Foundation are both amazing!

@MotherGooseUPus - Yeah it’s only a few years old so it’s content catalog isn’t as big as some of the others, but their production quality is great and they have multiple great shows and movies.

Silo, Foundation, Ted Lasso, Severence, Mythic Quest, and For All Mankind are all amazing in my opinion.

They have some other popular shows that just aren’t my personal taste, like The Morning Show.

Also some great original movies like Tetris and some others.

@mountainman - Mythic Quest & Ted Lasso were awesome sad I finished them and not sure what to watch now.

@Matador - They are both great. I believe Mythic Quest is coming back for another season at least. Not aware of any other good comedies on the platform besides those two.

Watching Righteous Gemstones on Max right now and that show is great!

@MotherGooseUPus - Just watched Dead Reckoning last night. I enjoyed it very much, although If probably place it below Fallout and Ghost Protocol only because those ones had more compelling villains.

Still a great entry and I’m looking forward to part 2!

@mountainman - glad you liked it. I put it just behind Fallout. I agree the villian isnt as great as Fallout or Rogue Nation but overall i thought the movie was a blast and i loved the call backs to the first MI movie. I dont think it lived up to my expectations, which were super high, but, i think Part 2 can deliver the goods

@MotherGooseUPus - Agree with all that. It was very good. And maybe it can pass up Rogue Nation on a rewatch. A lot to love about it. That car chase in Rome was one of the best in the series for sure and the new characters brought in are all great.

@mountainman - agreed. I've seen all the MI multiple times except this one... once it's here next week, or whenever i get it i'll give it a rewatch to compare. Agreed on the car scene, it was nuts... and so was the train scene. I think it was a great movie but it was almost like setting up Part2 to be the best movie of the series... but, we'll see

@mountainman - Nice! Don't have Max currently but might jump on Netflix and watch Umbrella Academy season 3 forgot to watch it.

@MotherGooseUPus - I did like all the callbacks to earlier movies. I wonder if Thandie Newton and Jeremy Renner could return, as they seem like the only living characters that haven’t yet.

MotherGooseUPus - 10/20/2023, 11:53 AM
@mountainman - would want Paula Patton over Thandie, but 100% to Renner...if he can with all his rehab etc..

But yea, i'm just excited to rewatch this movie and can't wait for Part2. I'm guna be wicked sad once this series is done :(

Apple+ by far has put out the best quality content over other streaming companies in the best couple of years. I'm looking forward to this.
