While
Paul Thomas Anderson believes in the
Kodak Film Stock Preservation coalition that is
Tarantino,
Nolan,
Apatow and
Abrams, the director has understandable doubts, stating that it is
“still a temporary reprieve. The death notice—there’s a sign on your back that’s saying you’re still gonna get executed— [is still there],” adding,
“more needs to be done [about the potential extinction of the film format].”
“Christopher Nolan is at the front lines of all of this, I have to say,” stated Anderson, and continued by advocating that
“[Christopher Nolan]'s made a beautiful film, if anybody gets out to see ‘Interstellar’ when it comes out.” Anderson's comments however, were then followed by a sarcastic, but good-natured
Kent Jones, in suggesting that
“I'm just trying to put in the good word, [Christopher Nolan]’s a decent filmmaker; you probably haven’t heard about this one,” while Thomas subsequently added to the joke, by proposing for everyone to
“[s]upport this filmmaker.”
“But don’t [frick] around, go see it in IMAX,” PTA clearly expressed.
“Brave the line. Do it, bite the bullet,” he stressed.
