We all know that director Ridley Scott loves to include additional scenes and create long versions of his films. Prometheus is no exception and he confirms via COLLIDER that the final cut was 2 hrs. 27 minutes.

Additionally, Scott confirmed that the home version of the film will have 20 or 30 minutes of deleted scenes, including 20 minutes of director's cut (with a scene between Noomi Rapace and the so called "engineer").

At 5:30 the next minute video talks a little about the sequel to Blade Runner.

Watch out, SPOILERS ahead!

Quotes from the interview:

Deleted scenes:
SCOTT: This is fundamentally the director’s cut. But there will be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films—how they’re made, how they’re set up, and the rejections in it. That’s why it’s fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu.

Well I’m curious about the deleted scenes. Specifically in this film, Noomi [Rapace] mentioned maybe there was a fight scene with her and an Engineer.

SCOTT: The Engineer fight scene was pretty good. It will definitely go on the menu. It won’t go on the long version. The problem about it is, while she gives as good as she gets with an axe (she’s very physical), he’s so big, for him to be clouted with a conventional weapon somehow diminished him. It’s subtle. It’s drama. I didn’t want to diminish him by having this person who has a weapon to be able to back him off. It minimized him. That’s why when he deals with people inside his cockpit, it’s over. Wham, wham, wham. Even the shot doesn’t mean anything. And so all she has time for is introducing him to the big boy inside the lab.

You’re going to do an extended cut on the Blu-ray/DVD. Is it a lot longer?

SCOTT: Twenty minutes.

So there’s, like, twenty minutes that will be added back in for a longer version?

SCOTT: Maybe. But I’m so happy with this engine, the way it is right now. I think it’s fine. I think it works. It can go in a section where, if you really want to tap in, look at the menu. To see how things are long, and it’s too long. Dramatically, I’m about putting bums on seats. For me to separate my idea of commerce from art—I’d be a fool. You can’t do that. I wouldn’t be allowed to do the films I do. So I’m very user friendly as far as the studios are concerned. To a certain extent, I’m a businessman. I’m aware that’s what I have to do. It’s my job. To say, “Screw the audience.” You can’t do that. “Am I communicating?” is the question. Am I communicating? Because if I’m not, I need to address it.

I am so happy with Scott's statement about his great desire to make a sequel (min. 0:14).

Maybe the film will be better with those 30 minutes. Sorry, I really wanted to like it, but I found it way too [frick]ing flawed.

I am so sick of everybody being so negative on this site. If you didn't like it nobody cares.

Unless that footage is stuff that makes the characters likeable or even has them make decisions that aren't completely stupid, I can't see it helping the film at all. Boring movie with awful characters, crappy science fiction and pointless twists.

The movie was good, you must remember that there is gonna be at least 2 movies post Prometheus and pre Alien, he's got awhile to explain. I personally have seen Prometheus 3 times now, it gets better the more times you view it, but of course each time I see it, I asked more and more questions, which is suspenseful in the sense that, "Oh shit, what is gonna happen next? How is this gonna tie in?" so with that mentality, I think it was great. The other characters, why would you want to feel for them? They are just there for money, keep them that way, your only suppose to feel for Dr. Holloway, Dr. Shaw, and David really, of course with the exception of a little empathy for Vickers given the relationship with her father. I can't wait to see what will happen next, because it is most defintely open for a sequel. Alien is still the best Sci-Fi/horror movie to date and Prometheus is merely behind it. It may be hard for some to realize it, but given a few screenings and saturating all the endless possiblities of where it could go, it's very curious and bizarre. And the sequels with help fill in the "Wait, what the [frick]" questions people have. But we most likely won't see a sequel in 3-5 years so... But at least Aliens: Colonial Marines will hopefully suffice my aching hunger for more Ridley Scott! The man still has yet to disappoint me.

PatientZero It's not a direct prequel. That wasn't the same Space Jockey from Alien. There is plenty of other ships as David clearly stated, and that's not including the other moons and planets revolving around LV-223, so it is possible that other Space Jockey's are on other planets. PrettyMuchIt on youtube made has a theory that maybe Shaw is the one that goes to LV-426 (Where the Alien film takes place) and in an effort puts on the Space Jockey Suit, thus when that Space Jockey dies from what is most likely a chest burster (see its hole in it's chest)it just fossilizes there for a thousand years. Hell that Space Jockey in Alien may have been the one to give birth to the final stage of the Xenomorph we are all familiar with. Trust me, in future sequels it will make sense, Ridley's got this.
