LA Times is reporting that The Hunger Games - the upcoming adaptation of the bestseller by Suzanne Collins - will skip Hall H at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, due to the 'intense shooting schedule and cast calender conflicts'. Below are the details...

The Lionsgate adaptation of the Suzanne Collins bestseller joins a surprisingly long list of Hollywood sci-fi, superhero and fantasy projects that won’t be making presentations this year in Hall H, the annual showcase where stars and filmmakers woo thousands of fans with early footage and insider scoop.

Lionsgate executives say the film’s intense shooting schedule in North Carolina and cast calendar conflicts made it impossible to put together a worthy all-star panel for the movie.

LA Times also confirms that Conan The Barbarian - also distributed by Lionsgate - will be among the films that will be featured.

For Lionsgate, the approach to Comic-Con this year is to use press interviews, off-site events, fan contests and cast appearances to promote a slate of films, among them Conan the Barbarian, Abduction and Warrior.

Conan The Barbarian slashes into theaters August 19th, later this year, while The Hunger Games arrives March 23rd, 2012!

Conan looks dope. I keep hearing about The Hunger Games. I'll have to read up on it before commenting on it.
