Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Confirms Michael Keaton's Role In SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

We've long suspected that Michael Keaton will play The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has finally commented on the Birdman star's role in the MCU.

I thought this had already been confirmed, but multiple sites are reporting that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has made it official that Michael Keaton will play The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming. We've long assumed that he would take on the role of Adrian Toomes in the reboot, but many have speculated that Marvel could have secretly cast him as someone like J. Jonah Jameson.

There may of course still be something to theories that we'll see two versions of The Vulture (a younger and older version of Adrian or perhaps even someone else stealing the mantle), but for now, it looks like we can expect to see Keaton battling the wall-crawler while flying around the New York skyline.

"We’ve had a wish list and most of them in the near-term are coming together," Feige tells the Toronto Sun. "Cate Blanchett is playing Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man is something. And of course, finally, we’re showcasing Josh Brolin’s Thanos (in Infinity War). We’re looking forward to that very much." Are you guys looking forward to seeing him as The Vulture?

I'm cautious when Kevin advertises villains. I remember when he said Ben Kingsley was "THE Mandarin."

@Highflyer - Funny you should mention that, cause I remember him specifically saying, over and over again, that Ben Kingsley was NOT playing the Mandarin.

Then the first trailers came, showing Kingsley in the Mandarin's outfit, and yet Feige tried to avoid answering that question, but when forced, he always repeated that Kingsley was NOT the Mandarin.

And he wasn't. And that movie sucked. End of story.

@GreekCreekGeek - Iron Man 3 did not suck imo.

No, it did not suck. It was a one-shot, and didn't build upon the greater MCU, but if that movie sucked, your standards are sh*t (respectfully).

Let's just agree to disagree.

@MosquitoFarmer -
There is absolutely nothing respectful in calling someone else's taste "shit". Plus, the two reasons you mentioned above are exactly why this movie sucked, in my eyes. Big time.

This ain't really a respectful site. Such is the case when you end your statement with "End of story" as if no one else's opinion is correct. And I said nothing of your tastes, but your standards. If you can say a movie like that really sucks, there is something spoiled about that.

Out of curiosity though, what do you think of Keaton's casting? He'd have made a really good Norman Osbourne, but I think it's awesome to have him in the MCU roster, especially as a villain.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/9/2016, 12:26 PM
@MosquitoFarmer - I respect him a lot as an actor, but I have mixed feelings about him joining the modern (post 2000) CBM genre after that huge dump he took on it with Inaritu on Birdman ; a film I genuinely love.

@MosquitoFarmer - Shane Black, I have almost no respect for, after the way he reacted to the fans' negative reaction to his "ingenious" twist, so yeah. I probably would.
