While we continue to wait with bated breath for our first look at Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming tonight, some new details on the film have arrived via USA Today. While action and excitment will no doubt compose a large part of the film, star Tom Holland sees Homecoming as less of an action film and  "more a character piece about this kid who's struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city."

As evidenced in previous interviews, the film will kick off with Peter Parker returning to his normal life in Queens after his major battle in this summer's Captain America: Civil War, a secret the young Peter will struggle with. “He literally just went to Europe with the coolest clique of them all,"  said co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll. “And now he’s back with the academic decathlon and the mathletes and going, ‘What am I doing here?’”

Holland also confirmed that this film will be glossing over Spider-Man's tragic backstory in favor of Peter still learning the ropes as a superhero. “This is really a movie where Spider-Man’s not the finished article,” Holland said. “He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.” This direction was expected, especially since we've watched Uncle Ben's death play out in two different film series already.

As for Tony Stark's continued involvement and mentorship with the wall crawler, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that the suit Stark bestowed upon Peter in Civil War “can do a lot more than he even realizes right now.”  In Homecoming, “you begin to see just how much Tony Stark loves bells and whistles." We've already witnessed one of those abilities in the form of the "web wings", but what other features do you think Stark has hidden?

Be sure to visit CBM tonight to watch the trailer again and again after it debuts on Jimmy Kimmel Live! For now, check out the brand new synopsis for Spider-Man: Homecoming below.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Really pumped for this, but what i'm most interested in seeing anything with Keaton. Might not be in this trailer, but i'm not a fan of The Vulture and feel Keaton might get wasted in the role. So I hope they really sell the character big time to me and that is my only worry personally.

@Menks123 -
Yeah, I've had him fan cast as Norman Osborn forever. Sucks that he's actually in a spider-man movie and not playing Osborn. Same thing happened to me with Cate Blanchette too. Had her cast as enchantress and now she's playing Hela. Sooo close, no cigar

@BobbyDrake - I mean, i'm excited to have Keaton in the role and in a CBM in general again. Just that Vulture never did anything for me and i'd love to see another rogue before him. Either way, I have faith and it won't deter me from seeing this and enjoying it. Love the way the movie sounds so far, and can't wait to see who they cast for Norman. I always liked the idea of Matthew Mcconaughey in that role.

I'm hyped for the movie, But LOL at the first description being "more a character piece about this kid who's struggling to talk to girls"
