I hope with the surge of 4K content flooding the market it will convince Network TV providers and network channels to film and distribute 4K content. I want to watch sports in 4K in my living room. Not in 1080p because they arent filming it in 4K.

@SonOfAGif - Have you seen a 4D movie yet?

I, personally, prefer the mask that came with Pulp Fiction's Blu-ray.

Can someone explain 4K to me? Is it for blue ray what blue ray was to dvd? What I'm asking is should I only buy that from now on because it's going to replace blue ray or do they coexist as different versions of the same thing?

@noahthegrand - 4k is just a resolution, it's how wide the image is. it isn't even 4,000 pixels wide, it's 3,840 (kinda beside the point but whatever).

4k have their own ultra blu rays. Eventually, yes, they will replace regular blu rays, but you're fine for now. wait until it becomes more widely used, unless you need the best picture around for a few movies.

1080p is also how wide the picture is. if you want to get an idea, it's roughly 3.8 times clearer than what you usually watch.

@noahthegrand - In the same way most initial Blurays came with a DVD version, I'm sure the 4K comes with a Bluray version, only worth getting if you already have a 4K tv and 4K bluray player or if you feel like future proofing yourself for when you eventually upgrade (which is what I'm doing)

@knocturnalzen10 - It's out in China September 8th, so there'll be well over a month of theater time for Spidey until this home release, and even then it'll likely be quite a while until Blu-ray etc are available over there.
