SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Producers Reveals Which Versions Of Spidey They Want In The Sequel

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse featured a lot of iconic comic book heroes but who would writers/producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller like to introduce in the follow-up? Spider-Punk may be coming, folks!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse put the focus on Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker. You'd best believe that even more versions of the wall-crawler will make an appearance in the sequel, and now Phil Lord and Chris Miller have shed some light on who else they would like to bring to the table when that swings into theaters

"This is not a promise at all," Lord explained. "There's tons of the, you know, Spider-diaspora that are out there... I'd be really psyched to see Silk do something and really psyched to be Spider-Punk. I just think, aesthetically, the thing you in a movie with that would be amazing."

He then went on to reveal some more obscure spider-heroes who could arrive on the big screen, naming two versions it's fair to say none of us ever expected to see. "I wouldn't mind Japanese Spider-Man," he laughed. "Also, Italian Spiderman, let us not forget."

The Japanese Spider-Man (a.k.a. Supaidāman) first appeared in the 1970s in a live-action TV series. However, he's since been introduced in the comic books alongside his giant robot, Leopardon. The Italian Spidey, meanwhile, showed up in a 2007 Australian movie which parodied action films from the 1960s and 1970s. There would probably be some rights issues there, though.

Who would you like to see in the follow-up? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Always love to see some Julia Carpenter.

@TheUnworthyThor - Julia is massively underrated as a character.

I like all the flippity-floppity web-swingers as much as anybody, but her having weirdo-telepathic-web-whoozits really sets her apart.

Since the comic of a few months ago, I would really like to see ArachKnight. Somehow I think the combination of Moon Knight and Spider-Man works really well (if done correctly ofcourse).

Also Italian Spider-Man? That stuff is great, but I can only see it work for a short joke. Just like how Danger 5 was one long (pretty funny) joke

Usually I'd be like, "Pace yourselves Sony. You saw how the ASM franchise went." But after actually seeing the movie, I don't mind if Sony milks this thing like a cow on steroids.

Gimme a Spider-Noir movie, gimme a Spider-Ham movie, heck, I WANT a Peni Parker movie. She was awesome, lol.

@KWilly - I find it beyond bizarre that they're talking a femme Spider spin-off and Peni's name wasn't mentioned.

Silk and Spider Gwen are two of my favorite spider characters besides Peter Parker. I hope Silk is in the next movie. She’s an underrated character that deserves better from Marvel.

How about Deathlok Spider-Man and Assassin Spider-Man. Also the team of Villains that were hunting down the alternative Spider-Man's. Can't remember their name.

Desperate to see Otto as Superior Spider-Man in some media. Definitely would like to see Silk. Also, being British, I suppose I have to put Spider-UK on my wishlist.

I'm tempted to pooh-pooh this Sony love fest, but I'll just say that I really wish Araña would get the love she deserves. If she'd come five years later and launched with an origin that wasn't wrapped up in JMS' weird totem stuff, she might have taken off like the other Spider-Family did.

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 12/18/2018, 7:39 AM
For the record, I like the weird totem stuff, but I think people would have dug her a lot more if it turned out that armor was actually a symbiote or something.

I’d like to see the Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man show up with cheesy music, silly poses and weird fighting.
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 12/18/2018, 7:41 AM
@AnthonyVonGeek - A live-action Spider-Verse-style thing with Hammond, Stone as Spider-Gwen, and Macguire and all that was part of my pitch for how to bring Spider-Man into the MCU.

Fortunately or unfortunately, people who make these decisions don't listen to me.

Give me 2099! Yeah, I know he was in the post credit sequence, but he really deserves more than just a tease. He's a great character and hopefully is the one to bring the other Spiders together in the sequel.
