MADAME WEB Posters Reveal First Look At Cassandra Webb's SPIDER-MAN-Inspired Costume

Two new Madame Web posters have been released which put the spotlight on the movie's entire cast but, perhaps most interestingly, also reveal the costume Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Webb will be wearing...

Sony Pictures has today released two new posters for Madame Web, offering a first look at Dakota Johnson suited up as Cassandra Webb.

It's become apparent that the Spider-Verse's Madame Web won't be an elderly woman hooked up to a web-like life support system as she is in the comic books. Instead, the movie is taking its cues from the Julia Carpenter version who replaced Cassandra after she died, creating an amalgamation of sorts...all while ensuring the title character can see some action!

Upon closer inspection, we're sure you'll notice the hero's trenchcoat is covering a costume which is strikingly similar to Spider-Man's thanks to that familiar webbing pattern. This seems to be a largely original creation, though it's likely taking inspiration from the red bodysuit Cassandra wears on the page (with any luck, this will also have the large white spider on her chest).

The second poster offers a glimpse at the movie's other costumed heroes, though how much we'll see of the supporting cast suited up remains to be seen. At the moment, we're only expecting Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, and Araña to don their costumes during glimpses into a future where they seemingly attack and kill Ezekiel.

For whatever reason, Sony Pictures is still saying Madame Web is "coming soon" and lists only "February" on these posters rather than a specific release date. However, the UK poster states February 14, so we're sure the U.S. date will be the same if not soon after.

Meanwhile, in another universe...In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines.

The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present.

SJ Clarkson directors from a screenplay she wrote with Claire Parker. Morbius scribes Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless are also expected to be credited. Confirmed cast members include Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

Are you excited to see what this movie brings to Sony's live-action Spider-Verse? Take a closer look at both Madame Web posters below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

I have so little investment in these characters from the comics, that I think I'll be able to enjoy it even if it's a mediocre show.

The trailer made this seem like a modern day CW show. VFX not quite in the level of movies but not as bad as they were during Smallvilles heyday, costumes that are not very flexible and probably are built cheaply and a pretty cast.

We’ll see how this turns out but any Sony made Spidey movies that aren’t animated make me suspicious

@Blergh - LMAO I was thinking the same thing was she using Clark's Smallville Blur jacket!

Now I don't remember if it was blue or red.
Blergh
Blergh - 12/12/2023, 12:06 PM
@Matador - As the blur he had a red leather jacket, then a black Neo Trenchcoat in S9.
He did wear a red/blue jacket/shirt combo and the reverse in earlier seasons.

@Matador - if I’m not wrong he’s supposed to be from the future to kill the girls before they’re strong enough to kill him.

Outgame hes wearing this to evoke connectivity to the franchise for folks who don’t know that it’s Spidey related (which most do not)

Wasn’t this supposed to take place in the past? If that’s the case, then this costume inspired Spider-man’s 🤯
Origame
Origame - 12/12/2023, 9:50 AM
@mountainman - I mean technically not.

Since it has Ezekiel, it'll probably tie into the spider totems. Meaning there's a concept for how the spider people dress and all these costumes, including spiderman, are based on those.

Noticing plenty of people calling the marvels haters racist and sexist here hating on this movie. Oh the irony.
Vigor
Vigor - 12/12/2023, 10:01 AM
@Origame - well when your comments about the marvels spend more time talking about how woke it is, than the actual movie itself. Yeah... yeah some may think there's some sexism or racism involved
Origame
Origame - 12/12/2023, 10:05 AM
@Vigor - yes, because being anti woke means you're racist and sexist 🙄

Dude, one of my favorite superhero franchises is blade. Gtfo with that nonsense.
Izaizaiza
Izaizaiza - 12/12/2023, 10:19 AM
@Origame - I wish we had a working definition of "Woke". That would make conversations much easier. The original definition of "aware of social injustice" is still in use for some folks, but definitely not for others.
Origame
Origame - 12/12/2023, 10:34 AM
@Izaizaiza - in short, communism.

Let me explain with an example.

With the marvels, this movie was super protected and given a high budget despite the director being relatively new, the main character being unpopular, and the two other leads being unknown characters. Why is that? Well because the 3 leads and the director are women. And 3 of the 4 of them are minorities. And since this is a field where there aren't a lot of them, the idea is that we need to ignore what sells to give them all a movie is woke.
Vigor
Vigor - 12/12/2023, 11:44 AM
@Izaizaiza - woke still means aware of social injustice.

And always will. Bigots/Conservatives like origame take every term coined by social justice advocates and perverse it with their own version (all lives matter, woke, etc).

They think there is an agenda to diversify America, and Hollywood. Surprise! They're right. And that's a good thing. But some nut loose in their brains convinces them it's a bad thing.
People susceptible to conspiracy theories and who are often fearful, are often the ones using woke in an ironic way. They don't realize that they're actively going against the natural order of life. Heck even if we are being religious, the lord said we should love one another. That includes others that don't look like us
Izaizaiza
Izaizaiza - 12/12/2023, 11:50 AM
@Origame - Disney is a huge corporation concerned with making money. Captain Marvel made over a billion. Ms.Marvel TV show was highly reviewed, as was Wandavision. The director was award winning, but fresh... exactly the type of director Marvel has had past success with.

They hoped The Marvels would be a success, and probably when the film was green lit, it looked like a sure thing. The film was not good, but communism certainly had nothing to do with it.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/12/2023, 12:10 PM
@Origame - considering how the word woke has been bastardized yeah anti woke would now imply you’re racist or sexist
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/12/2023, 12:11 PM
@Origame - also 100% not what woke means lmao this what I mean you just made that shit up
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/12/2023, 12:13 PM
@Vigor - it’s cause they’re whole lives they’ve been programmed to think white cis men are the default of society anyone else’s existence needs some sort of “justification” like we’re a DLC patch or reskin for humans or something

Can’t handle that they’re just a person not the center of life
Origame
Origame - 12/12/2023, 1:11 PM
@Izaizaiza - 1) captain marvel made a billion because of endgame hype.

2) it was highly reviewed, but also had one of the lowest viewership.

3) the fresh part (3 movies) shows bare minimum she shouldn't be given a budget that big. And awards are meaningless nowadays.

4) of course they hoped it would be good. But they prioritized identity. That's why it failed.
