SEVERANCE Star Adam Scott Says He Thinks MADAME WEB Will "Be A Really Cool Movie"

Madame Web star Adam Scott has shared his thoughts on getting to work on Sony's upcoming Marvel movie, while also providing an update on where things stand with Severance season 2. Read on for details...

Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews for movies like Venom and Morbius, Sony Pictures continues to attract top-tier talent to its Marvel movies, leaving fans to ponder the same question:

Do these actors believe that, when they join Sony's Marvel Universe, it's the same thing as signing up for the MCU?

If so, it might be the greatest con in Hollywood history as we've seen Madame Web assemble a spectacular ensemble that includes names like Dakota Johnson, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott. Regardless, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding the movie and its place in the wider SPUMC (Sony Pictures' Universe of Marvel Characters).

Talking to Deadline recently, the latter shared his excitement for the movie, describing it as "really, really fun" before adding that co-star Johnson is "terrific." He'd go on to say that, "It’s a really great set. I think it’s going to be a really cool movie."

In the same interview, Scott was asked about Apple TV+'s Severance, though the actor wasn't willing to share any season 2 details. He did, however, confirm that production on the next batch of episodes begins "really soon" (news we're sure many of you are going to welcome).

It was recently reported that Scott is playing Ben Parker, Spider-Man's uncle, in Madame Web. The prevailing theory is that the title character's mission will be to protect a pregnant Mary Parker, though we're guessing she ultimately fails seeing as this world doesn't have a Spider-Man.

It's a weird one, that's for sure, though we are pleased to hear that Scott is having fun working on the project. Cameras are still rolling, of course, so it could be a while before we get a first look.

S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing Madame Web from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The movie is currently expected to swing into theaters on July 7, 2023.

I'm not exactly familiar with any actor who's talked shit about a movie their still actively filming or promoting..

I mean even Mickey Rourke waited a month or 2 before he started talking shit on Marvel lol. These pre release actor opinions are never authentic..

Honestly, I do think everybody who signs on to Sony's movies know these aren't MCU movies and I think we're lying to ourselves if we say Sony is conning them.

Anyway, I'm actually starting to get excited for this. The cast is great, but I'm warming up to that Terminator/T2 premise a lot. It's such a wild direction to go in that I do wanna see how it's all gonna unfold (for better, or for worse).

@bkmeijer1 - has there been any word yet on who the villains of the movie are?
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 8/22/2022, 9:31 AM
@thewanderer - probably a villain with the same exact powers as the hero. So, I kinda expect Charlotte Witter to be the villain in this

@bkmeijer1 - but does Charlotte Witter have any connection to Spider-Man?

It sounds like the premise is that Spider-Man villains try to go back in time to prevent Peter from being born.

Assuming that rumor is true.

@thewanderer - hmm, good point. I figured Charlotte Witter could be the villain in this because of her connections to Madame Web.

Now that I think about it though, maybe it's a ploy by Doc Ock? Witter is experimented on and brainwashed by Ock, so could be Witter trying to kill the unborn Spider-Man is just Ock's programming at work?

@bkmeijer1 - I wonder if that would confuse the general audience since Doc Ock was a good guy at the end of No Way Home.

Even if they treat this as a separate universe, it's bound to confuse some.

@thewanderer - oh yeah definitely. Especially since Spider-Man isn't even born yet, yet all these other Spider-characters do show up (two Spider-Women and Arana, who I could see be brought in through the Web of Life and Destiny from other realities by Madame Web though).

Maybe Witter acts alone and just wants to destroy all Spider-people, and not just the other Spider-Women like in the comics?

At least he's getting paid. That is the only good thing to come out from this mess.
Because there's no way this will turn out good.

For some reason....I somewhat have a good feeling about this movie.

If he is Uncle Ben, I doubt he'd wanna pass on the role because it probably is very interesting & fresh for the Spider-Man universe to go that route. You never seen a film flesh out Uncle Ben as a man or character, so I do sense there is goodwill coming from this movie.

BUT...

You know there's Morbius....

I never heard an actor say a movie will suck... Even if the movie does suck.

These interviews are as useful and authentic as a fake person.
