Almost everyone who has now seen Spider-Man: Homecoming (which is almost everyone with any shrap of a childhood) is in agreement that is was a Spectaular (pardon the pun) film, with some even going as far as to give it the title of the best Spidey film of all time. In this episode of The Revive Lounge we dicuss our thoughts and opions on the film, dicussing the shift in tone, and focuss, from previous Spider-Man films, Tom Holland's performance, the main supporting characters' roles and performances, Iron Man's involvment, the twist we were treated to (after a pretty spoilerific Promtional Campaign), and the plentiful Easter Eggs we saw, including the pretty revealing last 5-10 minutes (including the credit scenes).

Overall, we're so chuffed to see our Friendly Neighbour Hood Spider-Man back at the forfront of summer blockbusters, and most importantly; in the universe in which he belongs. I am not sure I would call this the best Spider-man film ever. It is very good but not a great film. Everything worked well, the acting, action, story and even the integration into the larger MCU. My only problems with it was the constant joking around at the expense of serious moments that could have had a bigger emotional punch. In a lot of cases it was inappropriate - FOR EXAMPLE...after saving the people in the elevator, the AI tells Peter to kiss Liz Allen. There was probably better dialogue that could have been written to cap off that scene. The only other thing is that Spider-man seemed uncoordinated (bumping into things and crashing into buildings. It bordered on buffoonery. I get that he is trying to still master his abilities...but it has been established that he has been a street level hero for a while and he seemed much more coordinated and confident in Civil War. The change was jarring.

Other than that it was a good outing for Spider-man. One other small thing is that I think I liked the suit in the Amazing Spider-man films a bit more than Homecoming and the high tech and AI (suit lady) makes him too much like Iron Man.

@Forthas - Agree with you completely. They made Spider-Man stupid in order to make their story work (and even the story "working" is debatable).
