Spider-Man 3 Casts Gwen Stacy

Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, daughter of director Ron Howard) has been cast as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Sam Raimi is directing the pic for Columbia Pictures.

"Gwen is pivotal in Spider-Man lore as Peter's high school crush, his first girlfriend and his first love. She ended up being kidnapped by the Green Goblin and died during a bridgetop battle in 'Amazing Spider-Man' issue 121," Hollywood Reporter said in an amazing display of Spidey-

knowledge for a mainstream newspaper.

Gwen Stacy will provide a love triangle subplot involving Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst).Thomas Haden Church plays Sandman and Topher Grace a yet-to-be-named villain, although rumor has it he'll be Venom.
