This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the passing of the first big screen Superman, Christopher Reeve. In light of this, Entertainment Tonight caught up with Reeve's eldest son, Matt and he spoke a little about a side of his father that he thinks most people never got to see.
He was wickedly funny and had a very dry wit,I don't think people know that about him. He maintained that humor even after his injury. He was just always a funny guy.

Talk naturally turned to the new Superman, Henry Cavill and when asked what he thought of the new Superman, Matt had this to say;

I think he was very well cast, did a great job. I saw the movie.

He was awesome in that role, and from all Superman-actors he looks like the character the most.

Never thought the old Superman films were that great (good in their own way though), but there's no denying Christopher Reeve himself was incredible in the role. He was just such a likable guy, you can't help but smile while watching him. Always feel a little emotional watching his Superman, very bittersweet.

Henry Cavill had big shoes to fill. He's doing a pretty good job so far. Considering Man of Steel really showed him before Clark Kent truly became Superman, and before he built up his fake Clark Kent persona, it'll be interesting to see what Cavill does in those regards, compared to Reeve. Hopefully, next time around, Cavill can capture some of Reeve's charm, at least as Clark.

I always loved how Reeve's Superman just had a way of making you trust him, y'know? You just looked at 'im, and you fully believed that he would do everything in his power to protect people.

Emjeed- My grandfather died a little over two years ago. He always was a sickly old guy.. his health was pretty bad toward the end, so we all knew what to expect, but it didn't make it any easier when he passed, y'know? I was just so grateful to have people in my life to help me through it. To help me through a lot of things.

I'm sorry to hear that, man, I really am. Stay strong, brother.. stay strong.

Cavill is a fine Superman for our time, in my view? just like George Reeves was for his time too, but Christopher Reeve's interpretation is timeless

Nothing against the other actors who have portrayed Kal-El, but Reeve to me is the definitive Superman. I still tear up during the '78 movie.

*When Jor-El places his son in the escape vehicle
*Baby Kal-El lifts the kent truck
*Jonathan collapses
*Superman rescues Lois and the helicopter.

RIP Christopher Reeve

He was the Superman of my childhood. He embodied the character, in my eyes. He also did some other, excellent work (outside of Superman) before his accident. It's still sad that he didn't live to see what his work led up to.

No one has embodied a superhero character so well as Chris Reeve. No one. Not Bale, definitely not RDJ.

Cavill has some pretty damn big shoes to fit. He's doing really good thus far, though.

Cavill is good, I love MoS, but "Superman, the Movie" is a masterpiece and it's still my favorite Superman movie and it's still in my top three CBMs (Along with TDK and Spidey 2).
