this video is complete bullshit. He doesn't understand the true meaning of superman, this guy is just trying to advertise his movie. It's not about death for superman, its about trying to save the world and if he doesn't then that would be more than death for superman, I haven't read doomsday but that isn't the only superman story out there... there is a whole bunch of superman novels that are good. Kevin Smith is a way better film critic than this fool and he even praised superman red son.

Its very true. Superman only sells because people would like to have his powers, not because they care for Clark Kent. Even worse is characters like Wonder Woman and Flash where there are die hard fans for these characters but simply can't carry their own film, be it live or animated. Superman: Red Son isn't the Superman used on a daily basis. Its completely, completely, completely different. And they still use Batman to make it more interesting. How this individual explained this wasn't completely mature, but 100% blunt and accurate.

I understand that the superman in red son seemed different from the daily basis Superman but the ideas of superman were still in Red Son... I mean they might have used batman for a part where he blows himself up but that wasn't the important part, I barely cared about that part.... I care about Clark Kent.... I see myself in his shoes... I'm still trying to be accepted by society... Im not a rich kid... some fool said batman was a hero for the common man... yeah right... he has money, he doesn't work with the working class, he might protect them but I don't really see him understanding them... they believe superman is born with his powers... well batman is born with his money... one day when I show a superman film that will blow out all cbm films out of the water... then they will see the true superman... have you ever seen the Iron Giant? if you did you might remember the end... he didn't say batman... he said superman. Now I'm not hating batman cuz I think he is cool too.. I just don't care about him as much as superman.

Batman and Superman are essentially the same character. Orphans who want to make the world safer and use what was given to them to do so. Batman has money, but that isn't the why, it's one of the hows. Superman comes off as selfish to me, he has all this power but stays in one little city and is obsessed with Lois Lane, knowing she will die, and wastes his time trying to fit in. But he isn't a teenager, he is a full grown man, so it is silly. Plus he is like America's hero, but he is A. An Alien (outerspace) B. An Alien (not a legal citizen). With Batman their is a core aspect throughout the multiverses, where he doesn't always have money and still acts as a hero because of the very essence of Batman. Superman is a character who all his other characters need alliteration for some reason Lex Luther Lionel Luther Lois Lane Lana Lang, his villains are terrible or made so ridiculously strong to make them interesting that the whole justice league has to help out, he constantly is under brain control, love spells, red krytonite. Even in his movies, the most "epic" scenes are ones where he stops events from happening, a plane from crashing that Lois happened to be on. Before the new 52 he stopped appearing in his own comics, ie. Action Comics because Lex was more interesting than Superman. The only thing that makes him interesting is death. And people wear superman shirts and put the stickers on the car in the same mannerisms as they do with tapout products, so he is basically a clothing product for tools who also have to get something tattooed on them so the S on ch...shoulder will do. A Superman film will never be the greatest CBM ever because they can't get past ZOD and LEX and because they will always try too hard to market to children, where you get a little 8 year old with superpowers giving us a film version of superboy. And past Iron Giant, do you have any clue how many shows reference Batman like Supernatural or any crime show that as a vigilant episode. People want to be Batman because Batman is a human who has taken down Gods and represents never giving up. Superman just has powers people want, and really only for personal gain. If Clark Kent had money and not powers he would be nothing but a rich dude.

the way you say batman in all multiverses has the same concept is the same as me saying that superman in multiuniverses has the same ideas... its true that in the red son universe batman was still a hero with barely any money, and many people in that universe thought that superman was "selfish" because he wanted to create a more perfect world that was in his vision, but batman just kept bitching about how his parents died even in that universe, he didn't see that superman just wanted peace in the world. I personally believe that the core essence of batman is control of the world even though he doesn't seem to look like he wants control, If batman truly had superman's powers then he would probably want to control the world with an iron fist.... I understand that superman stays mostly in his city. It's because most of his enemies come to him, plus there have been numerous times that he has gone to diffrent places in the world to save numerous cities but Superman has the idea that no body should have control of the whole world, that's why he decided in red son to give up being superman at the end , that was or should be the way that superman dies kinda like how batman didn't die in the dark knight returns. I agree that they should have atleast allowed superman to die with doomsday but should have brought him back in a different universe like superboy. if you want to talk about ridiculous characters then you must mean how batman gets to be a vigilante that can stop a whole mob by himself and the cops of gotham can't do shit cuz they can't think. Of course they make most of superman's villians stronger than him, he is from another planet with superpowers, it's all make believe, He doesn't always need the justice league to fight with him on his battles but batman surly would need to if he was fighting endless armies of things. Superman has the ideas of hope, of the right of all humanity, of justice. Batman has some of these ideas but also has the idea of any means necessary to get the job done even if people get hurt or if he has to blow up the universe. batman, in my mind, is a symbol of police brutality with out actually being a cop. He believes that things should be an eye for an eye and if cops don't think so then he is going to do it for them. He thinks mobsters break peoples legs.. so he's gonna break their legs. Of course there is a whole bunch of people that reference batman, their all cop shows!!!! Superman in the iron giant represented hope. vigilantes represent anarchy or chaos and taking things into your own hands. I don't wear superman shirts because I want his powers, though it would be cool, I wear superman shirts because I believe in Superman. Why would they try to market Zod and Lex to kids... if those movie worked then they could still make a great Superman movie... If it were up to me and I hope one day it will be, I won't market to kid's. I've said before in some of my other comments in other articals, that I will share my ideas on a superman film and I will explain what I see could be a great film adaptation for superman in my own artical... without having Zod and Lex being the main villains... god damn it I hate the FCC for making the film makers tone down the violence in movies. Plus if Bruce Wayne's parents didn't die then he would have been an ordinary spoiled rich dude... oh wait he still is even with his toys. Clark Kent has powers but is humble. He doesn't take the highest paying job in the business.

Great feedback guys!
And I dont really know that much in detail about Sups apart from growing up watching the animated serious, Smallville, and the few comics I have of Sups, but I kindof agree with the video. Not that the no cares about superman. That bullshit. Superman is one of the most iconic heroes in the world along side Spiderman and Batman, but like the end of video was trying to get at was the suspension of belief for death of comicbook was shattered. I even have that issue where superman dies too, and the issue when he comes back. And he does have a point look at Cap't America after the Marvel Civil war. He got shot, died, then maybe a month later he was back. Same with Bats and a few others.
And Bats he does not wish to control the world, his whole idea if it comes down to it, he'll sacrifice the few the to save the many, and he's done time after time. A hard decision that most other heroes would have a problem macking. That and no one can really say anything about Batman, like him or not. He has beat down almost every single hero in the DC universe, including Sups.
And again, I just wanted you guys to enjoy the video, I know the guy kindof comes off as troll, but despite that his message and the delievers it is pretty funny and someone accuate to the one of the stories of Superman, iconic fight Doomsday, the aftermath of that, and his return with his black outfight and funny long hair, which also too. Its weird.

I agree that the story of doomsday might have been some what weird and I know I might have gone too far by saying batman would probably control the world part, but he would probably brutally kill all his villains to save the world. Aren't the decisions that batman makes the same as every other hero's decisions? All superhero's make those decisions, though batman the punisher and many other vigilante types make a lot more of these types of decisions. Superman and Spiderman have made these decisions as well but try their best to make sure that nobody gets hurt trying to do it, thats why they don't always want help from anybody when they fight their villains. I like batman as well like I said before and I know he has beat superman and many other hero's as well but Superman has won fights against batman as well."the dark knight returns" batman falls down and dies, "superman red son" batman explodes, "superman/batman enemies amoung us" superman nearly chokes batman like how batman did to superman in "the dark knight returns"... I have to admit that the video was kinda funny but the guy was kinda trollin.

I understand that when someone attacks Superman, Captain America or Goku it is very similar to Christian and Atheist fighting.
But they are heroes that have become embedded and are very basic. "This is my new Superheroman" "Superman?" "Yeah we'll go with that" - "We need an American hero in the Military" "How about Private America?" "Good. But lets promote to Captain for no reason"
And Batman has had Superman's powers on Earth and Planet X, both were very different. One he was just a hero and the other he scared the hell out of every criminal every. But in all fairness Superman was once God or King of Earth. He isn't humble. He walks into fights saying things like "I don't want to have to hurt you" He does have a frat boy mentality of hey lets punch each other and destroy all my buildings. Both Batman and Superman don't kill anyone, but if Batman had to kill 30 people to save the entire planet he would, it's called making a hard decision. Superman also makes other characters irrelevant, racing Flash, c'mon. So if Flash loses, what good is he? It isn't even about comparing Superman and Batman, it is that Superman becomes boring every few years so they try to amp him up. They try things like giving him rainbow powers, I am not joking, he shot rainbows from his fingers. They make things up as it goes, out of nowhere turns out Superman is supersmart or something? He doesn't die, just goes into a healing coma, there are more kryptonians, etc. He isn't even hope, he is having the powers and doing the right thing with them. Batman is more hope than Superman. The greatest thing Superman ever did was admit to Batman that he may go evil one day and would like Batman to be the one to stop him giving him a piece of kryptonite. I like Conner Kent, the new Superboy is teen angst stereotype, but it makes sense when you find out your first dad is a criminal and other may be the mightiest hero but wants nothing to do with you. I find Superboy interesting, more than Dick and Jason (Tim Drake is still awesome to me). I just don't care for Superman (I mean he is better than Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and Aquaman). *Take in mind, this is all based on the previous Superman, the new 52 Superman is garbage and it would be foolish to say otherwise* But with the original Superman, to me it's like playing a game with someone who is allowed to change the rules every ten minutes in his favor.

Time Drake....is DEEEEEAAAADDDD! I think right? I dont know anymore. And yeah thats what I said ealier. Batman will do what he must to save the masses even it mean throwing a few people under the bus. Hell even during the last few issues of Final Crises he actually picked up a specially made gun and tried to kill Dark Seid.
But I agree with Rocketico on some level and Wedontdie.
I just think the problem with Superman is the story telling to be honest. Like at Smallville, first 6 seasons were amazing cause of the stories the writers told, not 100% accurate but they were enjoyable to watch. and as far as movies go, Superman man should be the most visually stuning movie ever next to spidy, but no one has really gotten it right.

Mar Landis is right and wrong. The folks at D.C. were getting beaten by both Marvel Comics and by Image at the time and needed to get reader sales back up. Basically, his telling of the death and return of superman was correct, and don't forget about the whole Knightfall garbage with batman getting his back broken by stupid Bane. I got back into superman and D.C. when word got out that he was going to be killed off. I even wore the armband that came with the comic. So, while I agree with Mark Landis that D.C. killed Superman off just to sell comics and had no intention of keeping him dead for any real period of time I don't agree with his premise about no one caring about Superman. He is the embodiment of the best of us. Sure he has really great powers and there has been thousands of comic book hero's that have to some extent, similar powers as Superman but none have his ideals. Superman represents what a comic book superhero should be. I think deep down a majority of comic book enthusists would rather have Superman protecting them than Batman.

Ok I agree with you on the part that writers of superman stories have made mistakes over the years on what the real superman should be but when there were stories that have been really good about superman I personally believe that those stories, even though, there's a few of them, Have been better than any batman story out there... I know many people have criticized superman earth one but I personally liked the book because it has shown that superman is smart, is powerful, is caring, and is humble. this is the true superman!! don't say he isn't supposed to be smart or humble! he is from krypton and was raised by simple people!! everyone on krypton is smart and many scholars believe that the most humble people are simple people not ones with money or that live in the city! Plus Batman has the mentality of paranoia because he barely trusts anybody he meets. and what do you mean superman doesn't represent hope!!!! every time when people thought that the world was going to blow up or that all hope was lost! Superman has been the hope that people have gotten because he was there to save them!!! Batman has admitted to saying that people would and should trust superman more than himself!! And what do you mean he has made superheros irrelevant. He might have raced flash and won, and has also kicked the living shit out of an evil batman but that doesn't mean he goes and takes their jobs. He still lets them do their jobs because he trusts them to protect their respected cities. He trusts people. Yeah I know superman gave batman Kryptonite to stop him if he ever went bad from Kryptonite but Superman still fears that batman wouldn't be able to stop him even with Kryptonite. I personally like reading green arrow and Superboy, he is one of my other favorite superhero's but the new 52 superman isn't that bad. many people like it. I personally think it's cool to have new stories. whats wrong with change, Maybe superman should finally have a kid that would take his place, not superboy, His own son or maybe Batman should finally marry someone or should have a story when he loses his business and if he has before in another story then I'm sorry for not knowing, I didn't know about it because I haven't read it? but I don't care if you don't care about Superman!! I'm saying that I do! I don't care if some of the superman stories haven't been that good, I care about the superhero and like I said before! those few superman stories that have been good, I personally believe are better than any batman story. Plus in superboy I don't think he's angry because he sees that he has fathers that don't really care about him, have you read the new superboy 52? I know you might not like the new 52 on how it has changed a few things about superheros, but I do because I'm not gonna go ape shit about a changes! I have been following Superboy, Superman, Green arrow, and Jonah hex. But in Superboy 52 the reason he is or was angry was because he had DNA both from an evil and good person. In the story the people that created him were trying to figure out why he was thinking about living in a small town in Kansas and why he didn't save a person in a burning building. He hasn't met lex or superman yet.

I don't understand why people keep saying Superman isn't relevant or that people don't care about his character. Superman is revered so much not just cause he was essentially the first but because of what he represents. He is the standard by which all other superheroes are measured. Every genre needs the bar to be set, and he does that while also happening to have been the first. He is iconic, cause he is near perfect, and we as readers do and should want to emulate him for that. That is why he means so much.
