Exclusive: Kristina Anapau Hints That She's In The Running For Lois Lane

The Black Swan actress reiterates her interest in playing Lois Lane in the Superman reboot, and says that she has auditioned for a Super Hero movie, but won't reveal which one!...

That's right, because we don't already have enough Lois lane rumors floating around, I'm off finding new ones! If you remember a while back before Zack Snyder was confirmed as taking directing duties on WB's Superman reboot, rumors hit that Kristina Anapau(Black Swan, Self Medicated) might be in the running for the role. This was never confirmed, although she did express interest. Well I caught up with Miss Anapau to see if she was still interested, and if there was ever any truth to her being in the running in the first place.

CBM: I was just looking back at an older quote from you in the article linking you to Lois Lane, saying how much you would love to be a part of an action movie like Superman. This was back when it was rumored that Darren Aronofky might be taking directing duties on the film. Now we have Zack Snyder, and Henry Cavill will be our new man of steel. Things will be moving forward pretty fast now and they will be searching for a Lois. Are you still interested in the role?

KA: It's a great character and a great project. I'd love to be a part of it. I'm a big fan of Zack Snyder's work.

CBM: Have you ever met with anyone in connection with the role?

KA: I'm not sure I'm at liberty to talk about that just now;)

CBM: Fair enough:) What do you think are the defining aspects/characteristics of Lois Lane and how would you approach playing her?

KA: Lois is intelligent and strong while never losing an ounce of femininity. She's a great role model for girls out there today. Not passive and helpless, yet not an imitation of man in the reveal of her strength.

CBM: You certainly have a good grasp of the character. You have the supernatural thriller The Speak coming out later in the year, anything else in the pipeline?

KA: I'm very excited about The Speak, yes. Working with Tom Sizemore was wonderful. He is a brilliant actor. I also have a great movie called '5 Souls' that will be out later this year. It's a Jacob's Ladder meets Rosemary's Baby and is an absolutely beautiful film. I play a blind woman; it was the most rewarding acting experience of my career to date.

CBM: Sounds great. One final question. Ever auditioned for a superhero project?

KA: Absolutely. Never signed onto one. Yet, that is.

Mmmm. Take from that what you will! But what do you guys think, can we add another conteder to the Lois Lane list?

I don't get why people want Wilde for Lois... yes she's frickin hot but not the best actress.

@Shaman - I do like your Malin Akerman idea for Ursa though. How bout Gerard Butler as Zod???

Dont know if its just me,but its really weird that this reboot is happening,to finally have no ties to reeve movies, the actors looking nothing like the old ones, and to have a a guy who is known for his dark gritty movies,i cant wait to just walk into the cinema, sit down, wait for all the adverts to go,and for the title and the theme to come up *wateva the new theme will be* ill have a right geekgasm,i dont mind who plays the characters any more, this movie will be amazing, long as we get lots of flying, lots of superman, lots of punches and a decent villian ill be a happy HAPPY boy!

Guason- I find Wilde to be a very down to earth type of sexy on House. She's not always pictured as blistering hot. It all depends on how much they batter her up and photoshop afterwards. She's perfect for Lois. In fact, she looks just as good as Durance only slightly older, as she should for this movie.

bamaman73- My favortie Lois has always been Terri Hatcher and she's nowhere near oscar award level. Neither are Durance and Kidder IMHO. So i'm sure we don't need someone like Swank as Lois just cause she landed that trophy. As for Zod, Butler's got the skills but his accent would take me right out of the movie. And, he doesn't have that natural evilness to him like Sewell or even Tim Roth have ;)

ANAPAU! Inspired choice! Mary Elizabeth Winstead is still my favorite, unless they want to move Erica Durance up to the big screen. But Anapau is a close second. She is Lois. And I think the screenteast was legit. Whenever they say that they can't say, they mean they can't say because the answer is "yes". Otherwise, why the hell would they not just say "no". She's screentesting for Lois. Good choice and good article.

Great cast @Bamaman73 for Gerard Butler as ZOD, that would be EPIC!!

JohnTom88- That's not what i'm saying. I mean "looks wise", i find that Wilde looks older than Durance. Same goes for Leo Dicaprio. He's definitely older than Cavill, 9 years older in fact, yet Cavill looks about the same age as Leo. I don't know why that happens but hey, look at Welling. He still looks like he's 20. And the fact that she is Cavill's age and looks the same age(around 28, looks wise) is actually to her benefit since they might be in for a long ride of movies together.

JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 2/3/2011, 9:14 AM
Nah to me Durance looked aged since the beginning she was in Smallville. Definitely not Kristin Kreuk. At least Olivia Wilde looked young in Tron when she went for shorter hair look. Yes she looked more mature than her age but Durance still looked older than Wilde - always.

LucasMend
LucasMend - 2/3/2011, 9:27 AM
nope she doesnt has the look for Lois
Wilde all the way

loganoneil
loganoneil - 2/3/2011, 9:38 AM
Um, Cavill doesn't 'look' like Superman (he looks like a high school football senior, not the MAN of Steel!), but then again neither none of the ators mentioned so far for the role of Lois look like her either. With that said, let me throw my two-cents in and nominate a left-field choice for the role of Lois Lane...

Mary Elizabeth Winstead!!!!

If they're insistant with sticking with the 'baby-faced' look of Cavill, why not go with the fresh-faced look of Winstead? We all know she can act, and she's got the brains and beauty to pull this role off!

YOU KNOW GUYS AND GALS IN THE END ITS ALL ABOUT IF THERES CHEMISTRY, ITS NOT ABOUT LOOKS OR ACTING OR WHAT.IF IT DOESN'T "WORK" ..IT COULD BE FANBOYS TOP CHOICE AND IT COULD ALL GO DOWN THE POO POO TRAIN. SNYDER WILL CHOOSE THE GIRL THAT FITS, AND WITH A TRACK RECORD LIKE 300, WATCHMEN, AND SUCKERPUNCH COMING OUR WAY..I TRUST HIM, THIS THING IS GOING TO BE VISUALLY STUNNING.

JohnTom88 - 2/3/2011, 9:45 AM
@Shaman just look at the pics of Olivia Wilde on here, compared to a recent pic of Durance. Durance always look older than her age since the beginning, I tend to think she's older than Welling. Wilde has the benefit of being younger than Durance.

@Loganoneil Leave MEW for Mary Jane Watson ;)
Shaman
Shaman - 2/3/2011, 9:52 AM
Loganoneil- I agree with JohnTom88 about MEW. She's ideal for MJ in my book ;)

JohnTom88- It really depends which pics we're comparing. Cause these here(from 2011) tend to show Olivia as being older(or maybe the same age):

I guess it has to do with Olivia's jaw line and cheek bones making her look older than she really is without really looking "older" per say. She just has mature facial features i guess. The pics of her where she isn't all photoshopped make her look even older, but that's also the case for Erica.
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 2/3/2011, 9:53 AM
YEAH MEW SHOULD BE MARY JANE WATSON, BEEN CAMPAIGNING THAT SINCE DAY ONE...THATS A FAN FAVE FOR THE ROLE FOR ME.
loganoneil
loganoneil - 2/3/2011, 9:55 AM
Gun / John - I agree, she'd be a PERFECT Mary Jane, but WHY can't she do both? Apparently it's working for that D-bag Reynolds (Hannibal King, Deadpool, Green Lantern)!

Shaman - Depending on which picture you look at, she looks either 'on-par' (age-wise) with Cavill, or 10 years older. I understand makeup can do wonders, but with Cavill having such a baby face, wouldn't it be easier to cast someone who consistantly LOOK similar (age-wise)?
Daniellantern

hmm.. olivia wilde please!!!
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 2/3/2011, 9:58 AM
@Shaman Other than the cheekbones, Wilde still looks younger than Durance because of the eyes and slightly mousier look. She also has a more delicate beauty than Durance which to me looks like a (young) mother in that pic.

Gun - I still say he's an 'average' actor (at best) who's comedic talents make him the thinking man's Dane Cook. If it wasn't for his abs, would he even be half as successful as he really is? ...and DON'T get me started on the abomination that is the Fox Corporation! But I'm sure you're feelings towards them probably mirror my own in what they've done to our beloved Marvel characters! LMAO!
Shaman
Shaman - 2/3/2011, 10:13 AM
JohnTom88- Yeah, i'll give you the eyes. In that Erica pic, i find she looks a lot like a few Anne Hathaway poses i've seen her do. I dunno, i guess they're pretty on par, give or take a few details depending on the pics.

loganoneil- I think he's got a very similar "young face" to how Reeve looked in the first Superman film. I've even seen a few picks where he's not that baby faced but most of them are. But they really seem to be going Earth 1 wise in terms of physique and Birthright wise in terms of plot. Both showcase Superman's begining and, if we "have to" have a younger Superman, i can't see anyone better than Cavil. I was a big suporter of Jon Hamm for the role, but i'm fine with a young fresh face for a reboot that starts from the start. Cavill's got the piercing gaze, strong eyebrows, sharp cheek bones and square jaw which i find necessary for Superman's on screen presence.

Shaman - Reeve looked older, even in the first 'Superman' (watch the film - he LOOKS like he's in his late 20's, possibly early 30's). I'm sorry, but that pic you posted makes him look like Seth Green's cousin, not the Last Son of Krypton! Hell looking at Green's picture, I think HE looks more like Superman than Cavill (dye the hair... shave the beard...)

Shave off the 4:30 Don Johnson Miami Vice-wannabe stubble in Cavill's picture, and the film won't be called 'SuperMAN', you'll have to call it 'SuperBOY'!
