Henry Cavill on the scariness of auditioning for Superman.
"All I could think was: Oh, god. They’re going to look at me and go: ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance,’” he says. “The actor inside me was going: 'You’re not ready! You’re not ready!"

Director Zack Snyder on Cavill being Superman.
“Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors,” says Snyder.

"If you can put on that suit and pull it off, that's an awesome achievement."

“Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow. Okay: This was Superman."

The star has revealed he had to turn Snyder's project 300 down because he was in contention to play Bond with the man who landed the spy role - Daniel Craig.
"I came very close. The choice was between a younger Bond and a Bond closer to his 30s, which is to say, Daniel Craig."

But now he's working with Snyder on the new Superman movie - seven years after he first planned to play the Man of Steel. He was up for the same superhero part when McG was on board to direct in 2004.

Cavill says
"It was wonderful to have a second stab at a job - and as a wiser, older, more experienced actor."

Cavill also had this to say on telling his loved ones the news he had the job as Superman.
"I was like, This is ridiculous! I've just been given the biggest job in history, and nobody's picking up their bloody phones."

The currently Untitled Superman Movie is scheduled for release in early December 2012. Directed by Zack Snyder from a story by Christopher Nolan & David Goyer with screenplay from David Goyer. Henry Cavill stars as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman. Produced by Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Charles Roven.

TheRealSuperman @ Sweet man!

Cavill is gonna OWN as SUPERMAN!

Epic! ; )

@LEEE777 - Damn right he's going to own. The first picture of the article, he looks so much like the comic book Superman of the 80s... he's even got that natural curly hair! He's got something honest and kind about him too, something I'd want to see in Superman. I find he seems more approachable than Brandon Routh was... even though I really liked the look of Brandon.

It's nice to see someone with some real acting chops taking the reigns. As ECRuoS said, he needs to bulk up though. That's my biggest concern at this point. I don't want him to have to wear a padded suit like a certain "actor" had to in the previous Superman film.

The article mentions he's going to have a work out schedule with Gym Jones; the same guy who trained with the guys from 300 to give them their physique. And when you have "Gym" in your name you know you're badass.

LMAO@SeeyouAnnetea: Good point. Grif has a programmed reaction to posts, lol.

Anyway, the guy sounds cool, indeed. I mean, I understand the anxiousness he had when he got the role and nobody would answer his calls, lol. He looks the part and he's acknowledged that he's a more experienced actor. Glad to know. Now seeing that Nolan and his wife are producing, there's no doubt this movie will blow.. Blow us away, that is!

Persistence pays off. I'm glad he got the role.

once again a unknown actor takes the reigns of one of the most overpowered characters ever created, and hes British :)

Real @ Yeah man, I kinda felt it too, he needs a break, TUDORS is cool, gr8 actor!

HIGHBALL @ Me too, I thought Routhy was good as well, it was STINGER's fault, Singer I mean lol for that movie, superkid my ass, I'm surprised we didn't get Lois Lane as Clark Kents sister now concidering whats happening in fisT a$$ lol!

Yeah CAVILL and SNYDER will set a new bar for superhero movies, I'm feeling BRANAGH's THOR will too!!

He was always my second choice next to bringing back Routh. I think he will do a great job and we are going to be seeing the best Superman movie ever made. We will finally see him punch a villain, see a villain punch him back...and him getting hurt. Great article.

BruceWayneNewton @ Exactly man, exactly and thank [frick] Welling was nowhere near the role!

i hope we get a decent superman movie this time round,we haven't had a decent superman film since superman 2 in 1980.

apart from the animated shows & animated movies, the last 30 years have been pretty shit for the man of steel.

lets have one huge epic face off.

Never seen him in a movie before, but then again, I'd never heard of Christian Bale before Batman Begins. So I'll wait and see what he's capable of.

@sh4ko ^^^^That picture is EPIC!!! I'm feeling like we'll finally get comic book Supes in this movie…I'm not worried about him bulking up since Snyder has already stated that Jim Lee (best comic book artist ever) is one of his two favorite Superman artist!!!
TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 2/18/2011, 9:13 AM
Also I wanna just say if they CGI his musculature in this movie I won't mind, even since 300 that technology has been improved. I mean just look at how convincing the cgi is for skinny Steve Rogers on Evans for the Cap movie. Snyder has this one in tha bag. I'm onboard and strongly support this movie. My only worry is how they'll do the costume. They should go straight from the comics with a a thicker fabric and shorter boots than the reeve suit. Like @sh4ko's picture above!!!

Don't hassle the SuperHOFF!!! Here's an EXCLUSIVE sneak peak @what we'll see in Snyder's SuperWHIMP...hey, he even PUNCHES shit in it ;D

SWonder916 - 2/18/2011, 9:18 AM
Why does everybody keep saying he needs to bulk up??Isn't that a given??I mean the movie doesn't even start production for about 7 months or so and won't be released til December..really think he won't be in shape for the role by then??Come on now
TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 2/18/2011, 9:18 AM
…and no Reeves/Routh hairstyle for superman…his hair should look kind of windblown ANC curly…that's why the curl falls over his forehead not cuz he fingercurls it…the guy flys at speeds of up to 800 mph for Christ sakes…his hair would never stay that kept…they should go with the Jim Lee Supes hairstyles imo.
Protonite
Protonite - 2/18/2011, 9:20 AM
I don't think he needs to bulk up too much like some overblown gorilla. What he needs to have is clear-cut muscle definitions and a suit that shows it off.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/18/2011, 9:22 AM
SUPES91 @ Cool!

SUPERGUY @ Yeah, I reckon we are gonna get a damn masterpiece from Snyder dude!

I hope if WB do do a JLA movie though, we actually get CAVILL playing Supes, probably in his contract, hell Bales got a crossover movie in his contract so its possible.

sh4ko @ Sweet pic, dunno if he'll get that big though but I'm sure he'll put a bit more muscle on, its what actors do!

BANE @ What about X-Men... you mean you'd rather it at Fox or Marvel Studios?! ; D
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/18/2011, 9:24 AM
Protonite @ Exactly, Superman isn't The Hulk.
TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 2/18/2011, 9:31 AM
@LEEE777 & @Protonite do you think the physique of the Jim Lee Styled Superman is too big?
Shaman
Shaman - 2/18/2011, 9:34 AM
sh4ko- Epic pic but make his head slightly bigger. He looks like he sat between beetlejuice and the head shrinker there...
TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 2/18/2011, 9:47 AM
The size Bale was for Batman Begins would be perfect since supes costume won't be at all armored like a Bat-suit! This would allow for easy concealment in his Clark persona since the comic book Clark wears his clothes two sizes too big and hunches over giving him a timid hunchback look.
