After taking on a leading role in Ant-Man and The Wasp this weekend, Laurence Fishburne has become one of only a handful of actors to appear in both Marvel and DC movies. However, there was no sign of Daily Planet editor Perry White in Justice League and when he was recently asked about whether or not he's still "on call" to return to the DCEU, he doesn't seem to think he'll be hearing from them.

"I don’t think I’m still on call," Fishburne revealed "I was unfortunately unable to go do some work on what turned out to be the Justice League movie. I don’t know that I need to go back or if they’ll have me back or not, but I was grateful to have been a part of it. I loved working with Zack (Snyder), I think he makes an incredible superhero movie. I’m just excited to be a part of this (the MCU) now."
 
It definitely sounds like he's moved on from the DCEU but money talks and he could be convinced to return for Man of Steel 2 if and when it happens, right? Well, he hasn't heard anything about that! 

"I don’t. I don’t. I haven’t heard anything about it," he confirmed. "They just fell behind the eight-ball. I really wish they had started 20 years ago. But that’s all right, they’re where they are." We don't know how big of a role Bill Foster will have in the MCU moving forward but it certainly sounds like we've seen the last of Perry White. What do you guys think? @Luminus - They've had no luck, Donners Superman and Supergirl were the first shared cinematic superhero endeavour, they were all in, Brando, Hackman, O'Toole, Dunaway, Stamp, Helen Slater was huge at the time, 80's Margot Robbie, but a female superhero didn't sell and wasn't well received, Superman lives was connected to Burtons Batman, but fell apart, JL Mortal was the beginning of a new universe but was cancelled because of Aussie tax rates, Fiege thought, hmm shared universe is a good idea, WB had to wait again until Nolan finished his trilogy, Their luck is the worst.

Yeah, that's not what happened. That movie was just plain terrible. No excuses. WB should've just continued from Nolan's trilogy. They had the ball and dropped it.

@ARMUS - They didn't have to wait, and they didn't wait. Green Lantern was obviously the beginning of a shared universe. Complete with Amanda Waller to be the Nick Fury and tie it all together. They just scrapped it when the movie bombed.

@derbomber @BloodyBed @ARMUS - i remember that too. GL and MOS were supposed to be the start of the DCEU. GL flopped, MOS under-performed and had mixed reviews. MOS budget was 225 mil and grossed only 660 mil, below investor expectation as they expected 800 mil or greater for such a high budgeted film. I remember reading on Variety, that during their stockholders and board meeting they cancelled MOS 2 and made BVS because they believe adding Batman (their crown jewel) would guarantee them 1 billion at the box office. Ryan Reynolds return as GL was still ongoing too, but we all know how that turned out..

@Luminus - to WB's defense its hard to make a Nolan Batman film without Nolan. Same reason they rebooted Spider-Man after Raimi left. Nolan left room for sequels but agreed there was no room for the JL because "magic and supernatural powers" would destroy his grounded universe. ARMUS is correct, female lead superhero films never sold. Merchandise before or after the films never sold. Quality of the films do matter, but merchandising matters more. WB tried pushing cartoons, tv shows, and animated film but none of them sold. It was a high risk with no demand.

@derbomber - They did have to wait, you can't have a universe without Batman, Superman Returns was supposed to be a second in a franchise following Batman Begins, they even talk about Gotham in that flick, Nolan killed the idea when returning for the Dark Knight, he also ended Wolfgang Pedersons Batman Superman film, didn't want to compete with another Batman, GL was apart of that plan, it was planned long in advance, WB had to wait long enough after Rises to introduce a new Batman.

@Luminus - the movie wasn't great, but WB took a huge risk releasing a first female superhero film, and having it be in the same universe as the beloved Donner film, making it its own unique origin but not a spinoff, the 80's were a different time, the film was laughed at during production, it was laughed at in marketing and in general before anyone including press had seen it. Ripley in Aliens, not Alien and Sarah Conner in T2 were a change for the better, next was really Wonder Woman, it's a big gap.

I think using the term "luck" sort of negates talent and planning.

Marvel didn't get where they were by being lucky, but rather by being patient, planning, getting the right scripts together, and controlling the universe given to the directors to film.

DC is about to have two Jokers and probably two Batmen.

It's not luck that's the problem.

Which means as of now (with the exception of Rises) they're great Batman movies.

We can't compare them to the great Batman movies that only exist in your head.

@mastakilla39 - Sorry, but that's utter nonsense. I'll cite Hello Kitty as an example of why. Do I really need to explain further? They need to make good movies and then make merchandise that is GEARED toward females. Female action figures don't sell well, because the average female doesn't play with action figures. If these clowns actually spent time with their kids, instead of doing endless overtime, they'd know this.

As for Nolan's " "magic and supernatural powers" would destroy his grounded universe," comment, I call B.S. I'll cite The Dark Knight Rises as a rebuttal. Again, need I explain more?

@ARMUS - WB didn't take a risk at all. They played it safe and "camped" the hell out of that movie. If they had taken it as seriously as they had the first Superman, things would be different. But Hollywood execs have a history of not taking female-led properties seriously. ALL the blame falls on them.

@Luminus - thats a ridiculous defense. No DC FEMALE Character was profitable at the time. I never said there was NO MERCH for girls. Obviously Hello Kitty and Barbie are big brands, but they are not DC nor superheroes. DC rarely produces "merch" based on female characters because they DO NOT SELL nor could they compete with Barbie or Hello Kitty. Their 2 DC animated films about Wonder Woman and Supergirl flopped, no one bought it and the few that did were not women. There is no point in trying to "attract a female" crowd or make films if they cannot move merchandise is my whole point .

TDR is not supernatural at all, its campy but and the tech is somewhat believable. Not sure where you got that from?

DCEU casting choices have ranged from perfect to awful, but Laurence Fishburne is a perfect choice for Perry White IMO.

I really hope they make a MOS2, and I really hope he returns for it.

@Cayde6 - We're starting to build up a nice collection of characters unique to the MCU; Coulson, Ghost, the Scrapper 142 version of Valkyrie even Iron Man II's Whiplash. It's nice to garner something specific and original out of what is shaping up to be the most perfect version of Marvel since the original comics.

@OmegaDaGrodd - one of my favorite things about the movie was that they didn’t kill off Bill Foster or Ghost. I think Foster will play a key part in Avengers 4 as he’s now probably the most knowledgeable person about the Quantum Realm alive.

Journalists need to STOP asking about Power Pack and start asking about Thunderbolts.

I could see Avengers: Dark Reign as a perfect low-key follow-up to Avengers 4.

Mr. Fishbourne is true blue geeky. I love him. I would have also done the first two Snyder pictures, if I were him and I would have happily declined Justice League.

He knows where it's at.

Like the rest of us, he gave the DC Films Universe a good go and then gave up on it, when it was obvious it wasn't gonna work.

MCU is where it's at.
