MAN OF STEEL Director Zack Snyder Says Henry Cavill Is "My Superman; Past, Present & Future"

Yesterday, June 12, was officially declared "Superman Day" back in 2013 in the buildup to the release of Man of Steel, and that movie's director has now shared a Vero post to mark the occasion while paying tribute to his star.

Zack Snyder posted a behind-the-scenes photo of himself alongside Henry Cavill, with the caption: "My Superman past, present and future #Supermanday."

Cavill made his debut as Clark Kent/Superman in Man of Steel before reprising the role for Snyder's follow-ups, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. We're still not sure what the future holds for the British actor's take on the iconic hero, but Snyder clearly wants to see him don the cape again, whether he happens to be at the helm or not.

This post has led to speculation that he may be teasing a return to the DCEU for another movie with Cavill, but that seems unlikely.

A recent report indicated that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has become frustrated with the direction of the DCEU, and is currently searching for a "Kevin Feige-type" DC Films chief to take over. It sounds like the studio might be unsure how to proceed with new Superman projects, and it's been suggested that Cavill is "aging out" of the role (he's 39).

It would be a shame if Cavill wasn't given the opportunity to play Supes again, although there's always a chance that he's lost interest at this stage.

Considering they worked together multiple times, it’s an apt statement. Circumstantially, even though many of us love Cavill (as Superman or otherwise), it seems more and more like his tenure is unfortunately done.

@MosquitoFarmer -

Cavill is a decent actor,
but for a director that claims so much love for superman;
hack snyder did a pretty shít job directing 2 terrible movies

Just going to repost this:

"people really need to stop biting this mans dick. Cavill simply for playing Supes has become the most overrated actor to fanboys.

It's almost like a desperate attempt to find his Superman redemtion. It failed and Cavill is not a good actor. Guy hasn't had a single role of import. Let him rest already.

We all wanted the Witcher to be good but it simply wasn't. Awful show and total miscast.

Cavill is not the guy. Us Marvelites don't want him. So can we stop casting this tall wooden actor for every hero under the sun already??!!"

Any wonder Zack discovered and supports this guy? Nope

@BO31 - yeah idk about this one champ.. Superman aside, he's done pretty well for himself:

- Played the main antagonist in Mission Impossible, which grossed $791 Million Worldwide
- The Witcher is a smash hit from a ratings perspective
- He played a supporting role in Enola Holmes as Sherlock Holmes, which is also getting a sequel due to strong ratings
- He's also set to star in Argylle, which is a HUGE ensemble movie led by Matthew Vaughn

The guys career has only grown since Man of Steel and his stock in Hollywood is only getting higher from here
-
- Starred in a Gu
