We still don't know what the future holds for Superman in the DCEU proper, but fans remain hopeful that Henry Cavill will return as the Man of Steel at some point, and it sounds like the actor is more than willing to reprise the role if given the chance.
Cavill, who has actually only made three appearances as Clark Kent/Superman (four if you count his additional scenes in Zack Snyder's Justice League), recently admitted that he'd "love the opportunity" to suit back up as the big blue boy-scout, and reiterated his desire to do more with the iconic character during an appearance on the Lorraine show.
"I do still have the outfit," Cavill revealed when asked if the costume is still hanging in his closet. "Just in case, yes I do, yes I do. Ready and waiting for the phone call."
"Yeah, it was so much fun," he continued. "It was the kind of thing where even I, after it's been so long since I put the suit on, professionally, you look back and you think, 'What a wonderful opportunity. Even if I were to stop acting tomorrow, and go live on a yacht or a steamboat, I can still look back and say I've worn a cape and leaped about the place and entertained some people."
A rumor did the rounds earlier this year that Cavill and Warner Bros. struck a new deal for the actor to appear as Superman in several upcoming projects, but we haven't had any solid updates since. We do know that Ta-Nehisi Coates is currently writing a period movie focusing on a Black Superman, while Michael B. Jordan is developing a series for HBO Max focusing on Calvin Ellis.
The Flash is going to introduce several alternate reality versions of established heroes - including Sasha Calle's Supergirl - so we might get a better idea of the studio's plans for Superman when the movie races into theaters next year.
