Man of Steel: An IMAX 3D Experience
Release Date: June 14, 2013.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman.
The IMAX release of Man of Steel will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Thanks to ThinkMcflyTHink for the heads up! It should be noted that the film did have scenes shot in IMAX originally but it looks like those will be "re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience."

Means more money. I'll still see it in the regular format, but if it's really good I may give it a shot in 3D the second time.

After spiderman, I'm officially done with 3D. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it just doesn't enhance the movie anymore.

I thought some of this movie was going to be filmed on IMAX and I would be able to enjoy it on that format. However, now they have to add that crappy gimmick to it. Why do people pay more money for an inferior product? I will never understand it.

Converting to IMAX is getting as bad as converting to 3d.

Not really fussed as will watch in 2D anyways regardless if was even shot in 3D, however I guess bigger box office is what is needed, so I don't blame them as 3D is proven to make money.

Seen Prometheus in Imax 3D, its looked awesome but I felt it wasn't necessary for the overall enjoyment, so why even spend the extra bucks

@kurekurcubic

Fair point, still doesn't mean we should celebrate.

We'll have the choice of 2D anyway so it's all good.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 7/9/2012, 1:14 PM
@Kurekurcubic Exactly, for those screaming "Noooo" they don't have to watch it in 3D, and if people do then it is bigger box office takings, so as mentioned I won't watch it in 3D as never thought any movie was enhanced by it, but if it continues to make money, then producers will do continue to make 3D.

Are people forced to watch 3D movies in their area or something? I don't understand the response by some people as you will have the choice to watch in 2D anyways, so if don't like 3D don't watch it in 3D.

It'll make more money with 3D, so why not enjoy it in 2D, and also enjoy the fact that other people watching in 3D has generated a bigger box office.

@JDuke25 Yeah, plus has this been confirmed, I know it is on the Imax site, although not checked myself, but could they have simply made an error?

Besides most conversions don't work because of the lack of time, but MoS was pushed back to next year, and if this is something they were always planning on doing, well then maybe it will be a decent conversion.

That said I will still only watch in 2D.

to the people against the movie being converted to 3d,guess what you don't have to go & see it in 3d,so why worry.

warner & dc have seen what the avengers took with the added boost of 3d prices & they want some,i bet the next batman film will be in 3d.

blackandyelow@ I was in line to see Avengers in 3D, having already seen it several times and I was thinking, "But this time, it'll be in 3D". Then I remembered... All the other times had been in 3D, too.

Going into 3D sounds like it's gonna have to try to make up for the lack of ticket sales at the box office.

greedy studio execs

3D takes away from the movie, it is a distraction from the film i think and we don't get to experience that amazing image quality..

our own eyes can perceive and enjoy the highest image wuality and contrast and sharpness there is, but when we have to put on those glasses they are tinted and cover our eyes and give the movie a darkened look

regardless IMAX is amazing and have to see this in IMAX 3D ESPECIALLY considering Hans Zimmer is composing the film
OnLeatherWings
OnLeatherWings - 7/9/2012, 1:31 PM
Well that's Shitty news. I'll be seeing this in 2D regardless. 3D is Hollywoods answer to a dying industry and an excuse to put out inferior films cuz it's to much work for anybody to actually make a quality product.

From what I hear a lot of theatres only offer the 3d version of recent movies, that's why a lot of people are bitching.

i don't have the option of choosing between 2D or 3D. i live in austria and if there is a 3D version of a movie ALL of the cinemas show ONLY the 3D version.
so: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....
