Michael Shannon Talks Once More About His General Zod

I know we seem to get one of these articles every day, so I am sorry - but this is the first time I have read that Shannon doesn't believe he should try to emulate Stamps portrayal of Zod.

From Orlando Sentinal:

“I’m going back to Vancouver this week and we’ll see what happens,” he says. “This role is totally about your imagination. There’s not really any research you can do. It’s total fantasy.

“The only research you can do is look at the comic book and see what other people have done in those comics and on screen. The original film series made a big impression on me. I remember being scared to death of Terrence Stamp and those other two, all dressed in black.

“There’s no way I’m going to be able to do anything close to what he did. I’m trundling off in my own direction and we’ll see if it works. I can be a little scary, too.”

Personally - I am not worried about the job Shannon will do - he is a top class actor and I think he will more than live up to the original vision.

Might I say, he gives an excellent performance in Boardwalk Empire.

Whether you like/dislike the costumes, the of the look characters, the director or the choices of actors,it all comes down to actual footage not mere set pics. The real test will be when they reveal trailers, tv spots, all the way until we finally hear word of mouth by those who've seen it. Without that no one can really say whether this film will suck or not. Even so, I hope that in the end it's an over all great film.

I was skeptical about him being cast at first but I know now that he WILL OWN Zod! He will definitely be this generations General Zod and I can't wait to see what he and Cavill will look like on screen together.

Wish I could watch Boardwalk Empire. =(
