Below is the report regarding the possible budget of Man of Steel according to Peter Georgiou of Think McFly Think (with a thanks to the DCU Movie Page Twitter account for the heads-up), as he speaks via his Twitter account :

Saw some publications pointing to Superman: Man Of Steel's budget being at 175 Million. Sounds like wishful thinking by the Brothers Warner

Of course it's still something that hasn't been confirmed yet, but it doesn't sound impossible either. So what do you think of it - do you think it will be just enough for this movie, or else? Sound off with your opinions on the spot below as usual.

Directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, the Man of Steel project is set to be released on next year's winter, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Michael Shannon.

I think if it is legit, they want to play it safe after lossing the gamble with Green Lantern. Shame, as a big budget action packed Superman would rule; and I love the action lacking Donner/reeve era films.

Don't [frick] this up Snyder, or I will drink your blood bitch ;)

Nice find @Jolt.

CGI for Superman locations, fight scenes, and characters should run them to at least $100. I'm guessing it will be $150 million.

@bleedthefreak if he messes this up i will join u in the blood drinking.

I hope they balance the action and story, and get the kinda out there larger than life feel of superman like in All-Star Superman.

@ToughGrappler, it wasn't THAT bad. But I fully acknowledge that he kind of sucks with his original stuff, and he's my favorite director! (Love the visuals he brings to life). But with Nolan and Goyer guiding him with a steady hand, not only will this movie be good, but also a great learning experience for Snyder.

Returns was over $200 million when I think it was about $150 mil when it was greenlit. GL was greenlit for $150 mil and is reportedly $300 for the final film. If WB keeps this up Man of Steel could be like $400 with Snyder doing his slow mo super FX shots.

GL gets roughly 300M, Supes gets 175M. Fail.

superman doesn't need major special effects most can be done with Nolan's superb use of practical effects so this prelim. budget makes a lot of sense

$200 is still to much for GL!

WittySupername@ Marketing is part of a film's budget unless a budget is specified as a production budget.

That's a perfectly acceptable budget I would think. They don't have a lot of A-list talent so far to eat up a lot of budget. Also, if you think about it, Superman really isn't that effects laden compared to a lot of summer/tent pole movies.

@GreenLee, DEFINITELY going to see that. All I've seen Cavil in is Count Of Monte Cristo (I think that's him.) Gotta see this dudes acting chops.

The budget seems about right to me and I hope with it they can pull off a Superman movie that actually makes me like Superman.

heck.,....$200 mil for MOS too...why not? GL shant disappoint me....its a GL movie after all. it would be a waste for wb to reboot it....just move forward with it and make sequels that will surpass it.....its what they used to do in the good ol days.....now we just wanna reboot everything.....what a waste of money and time.

@Jolt17- NICE poster dude! Love how you used the Dean Cain version of Superman but witih Cavill's face cropped on. Cain was my fav live-action Supes!

Also...you and i are twitter buddies! lol. Next step...FACEBOOK!!! lol

Hopefully the Superman reboot won't suck. WB has a knack at [frick]ing up CBMs that aren't Batman.

Superman Returns was total hogwash. GL was...just kind of ok. It wasn't nearly as epic as everyone made it out to sound. Hopefully WB learned their lessons and made all the right choices for the Superman reboot. Otherwise they can go [frick] themselves.

Zack Snyder proved that he can achieve great results with a small budget and a green screen with 300.

(Just don't let him write the story like Sucker Punch!)

I would think 175mil would be enough to make a decent Superman film. They don't need an extremely HIGH budget. I actually prefer they stick with the smaller budget idea...I mean the previous film (Superman Returns) was said to have had one of THE HIGHEST budgets for a comicbook movie...and look what happened to THAT train-wreck of a film. Snyder and Nolan can't focus too much on the idea that they need this hugely FAT budget. Just keep it simple- give us a good story, good characterizations, INTENSE ACTION and we're all good.

@LP4 Lol cool bud, well I used him because his physics fit CAVILL's most for the manip, greatest Supes is still REEVE tho!

Btw I still like RETURNS!

@LEEE Yup, great bud!

; )

Well imo as long as NOLAN and GOYER have the story, let ZACK has the visuals etc., this will be great, he can own not that much money to be something good!

It will always amaze me how a film can cost north of £100 million dollars, my god that is so much money...especially when Ive just watched Green Lantern and am so confused at to where the money went, surely Russell Crowe will be be demanding most of the budget from this, ala Marlon Brando, that'll leave about £43 million for everything else

I fail to see what's so unbelievable about a $175 Million budget for a Superman film. Green Lantern's budget was about that if not more... feel free to explain yourself....of course you wont.
