Here is some inside news regarding the new Superman Reboot scheduled for release on December 21, 2012 to be directed by Jonathan Nolan and produced by brother Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas.

David Goyer and Christopher Nolan penned the story around August 2008 end left it in the cupboard until July 2009 when Nolan approached Warner Bros. with the story. They were already looking for writers by then but were so impressed that they told Goyer to go away and finish the story and approached Jonathan Nolan about scripting the project. Jonathan was interested in directing the project which made Chris Nolan even more interested and agreed to produce if Jonathan Nolan could Direct. David Goyer was penning the full story by now and approached Warner about directing duties but said they would decide around April 2010.

Jonathan Nolan is inline to direct which should be confirmed on 26 July at San Diego Comic Con where other announcements will be made with regard to Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman leading to a Justice League movie.

Now, I have seen a quick glimpse of the Superman Reboot story in NOTE FORM and can tell you that the Metropolis Police Department are featured heavily in the story trying to overcome the rising gang Intergang who are funded by Lex Luthor and do his "dirty business". "Clark Kent" is not Superman until about 1/3 of the movie has passed and this exclusive news "rejuvinates" the failing Daily Planet reputation and also springboards the career of Lois Lane.

I know that Brainiac comes to Earth about half way through the movie but didn't see the page of why he comes to earth as my co-worker was hogging the pages. Brainiac does cause some damage on Earth and interacts and takes over technology and stuff like that. He also kills a key person in the Superman mythology but I won't reveal who but it isn't Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen or Perry White.

Characters like Detectives Dan Turpin and Maggie Sawyer are featured heavily in the story along with Commisioner Henderson.

Daily Planet staff Cat Grant, Ron Troupe and Steve Lombard are also in the story but all of these are subject to change as well all know. I don't know about casting but I do know what happens in the story. It is very much like The Dark Knight in the way you read it and how you picture it when you read it. I'm really excited about this movie and can't wait until it comes out.

@CBMGirl: If what your saying is true, and I think I believe you, this could turn out to be the best Superman movie yet. By th way don't spoil that death suprise thing please, it's a better movie if we don't know every huge suprise.

If it's not bull, I put my money on the death of Jonathan Kent.

I'll take this with a grain of salt. It's simply rumor...but for the record- I want Superman to actually HIT someone this time. I want Superman to fight. If another Supes film with no action, then i'm sorry but [frick] NOLAN and WB.

@CBM Girl

If you work there then your a pretty reliable source imo. If you can report what you see, then please let us know..

about the Superman movie. This sounds great! and since it is a reboot and the last actual Superman origin movie hasn't been done in 30 years, I have no problem with them showing him 1/3 into the movie.

Why are you guys so mad that Clark doesn't "become" Superman until 1/3 into the movie? Bruce wasn't Batman until maybe the half way mark.
This "movie" sounds exactly like i want it. About the villain, He'll probably fight The Intergangs tech before Brainiac shows up.

@CBM Girl

Instead of writing your own articles on here, it would probably be better (for you) if you acted as a source and passed information to one of the editors. That way, you won't lose your job at WBros, and you'll be able to keep passing on nice little tidbits of information like this to us fanboys.

...thanks for the info.

CBMGirl - I think reason most people claiming 'BULL' and demanding a source is because it sounds as if you saw a treatment. Now being in the biz, you (above most) would know that a treatment isn't a guarantee that this is the FINAL story-arch, it's a brief synopsis of what the author would LIKE to see as the finished piece. A LOT can happen between the 'treatment' phase and the 'finished product' - the studio could shelve it. They could demand changes, or bring in a new writing team to re-write sections or the entire thing - anything's possible. I have no doubt that you saw what you saw, but whether or not any of this gets on the big screen remains to be seen. If anything, this could be a decoy to lead people astray (Nolan did it with 'Batman Begins') - who knows? Whatever it is, it's a good find - congrats!

I'd heed Macksimus' warning - it's a good find, but do you want to loose your job over it?

Hey CBMGirl, do you know anything about Batman 3?

Also, just curious does your friend who saw the other pages know anything more besides this, like if Krypton will be referenced or shown in flashbacks in the movie at all, does the Fortress of Solitude make an appearance, if the name of the movie is "The Man of Steel" or something else, are there any major fight scenes, etc.

Thanks for sharing the information on the movie, much appreciated.

P.S. My money's either on Jonathan Kent or Lana Lang being the person killed.

@NightAvenger: People are 'mad' about Clark not becoming Superman until 1/3 of the way in because right from the get-go Nolan had said this film would NOT be an origin story. Therefore it would be ALL SUPERMAN. Batman Begins, we were told from the get-go that it was an origin story. So we expected not to see Batman until yeah nearly half-way through. We just had different expectations for this than we did for Batman Begins. That's why people are so mad.

Probably Jonathan Kent. He's died twice in the past adaptations and comics.

@CBMGirl...i'm going to take your word that you're being as truthful as possible. If that is the script...then I'm worried. From what you've seen, is there any big fight scenes...or any fighting AT ALL???! I don't want another boring Supes film, this one has to be epic. Also how does the Brainiac/Lex Luthor teamup work in the draft you've seen?

Like I said- I'm taking your word for it...

Also it sound like this new Superman film may be based on "Superman the Animated Series" but mixed with the "Dark Knight"...that is IF this rough draft thing is real. Which it doesn't sound too bad...

Cool. Sounds a lot like the Action Comics issues by Gary Frank and Geoff Johns with bits of Superman : Secret Origin thrown in. That would be awesome, because those are terrific stories for an adaptation. Very classic feel to them.

sound's ok to me but hope that superman has some action in this 1...

Wow this sounds stupid. Superman should be in it sooner....no Metropolis PD movie please. They can be in it...fine, but just not too much focus. We need a villian with in the first 20 min. We need some majorly epic scenes and some majorly epic battles unlike anything ever seen in any film ever. I am not sensing that from this story.

Hey CBMGirl, did you get the message I sent you?
Apex
Apex - 7/21/2010, 6:42 AM
CBMGirl,

Here's what I think this "scoop" really is.

You've been reading Geoff John's work on Superman the last few years. You know he's one of the guiding forces of DCE and so you took elements from his "Brainiac" and "Secret Origins" storylines and added Intergang and the MPD regulars.

I call foul on this because of just how fan-wanky it sounds. And I highly doubt in this day and age that "notes" containing sensitive plot details of a huge film at a huge studio by a huge writer and producer would A) go through your hands and B)be carelessly packaged in a completely unsealed envelope.

Would I love it if this film was so close to Geoff Johns' Superman work? Absolutely. Is it still unlikely to be this similar? Highly so.

This is wishful thinking more than news, unfortunately.
