Recently while promoting Sucker Punch Zack and Deborah Snyder talked a little bit about the way they feel about Superman, as well as the lunch meeting with Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas. Snyder also takes a little dig at Thor.

Said Snyder

"I think Superman is broken and needs to be fixed, from a movie stand point. He is the biggest superhero on the planet, the father of every superhero. I'm like really Thor? Thor has a movie? like really? And there is no Superman movie. It's like the World is out of balance. It's like we lost our mind here people, come on. I really feel like if we can make a cool Superman movie, look when Chris(Nolan) and Emma(Thomas) asked us to go to lunch they told us their story of what they wanted to do with Superman. And before I was like 'I don't know'."

Deborah interjected:

"I said to Zack 'I don't really know about this'. Well, lets go see what they have to say, and we both left saying wow. This is great!"

Zack continues:

"Yeah because I go 'this is right', ya know. I didn't need to hear that much before I go 'ok this is right. Thats the right way to do it'. From my point of view at this point it's so needed. That it is hard. And I am a fan of the character. I want him to be awesome."

Seriously Zach? This is how you plan to market your film? By insulting Thor?

First of all Mr. Snyder, Thor is being directed by Kenneth Branagh. Last time I checked, Kenneth makes pretty good movies, and isnt half bad at acting either. So it would be safe to say that he is talented, unlike you. Do you seriously think you're THAT special? Look dumbass, Sucker Punch isnt the "original, never before attempted story" you think it is. Cant wait to see it and say "Sucker Punch? Yeah that movie is terrible. Its a ripoff of LOTR, I, Robot, and pretty much any comic book/anime ever made."

Also, you made 300. Last I checked, nobody had even heard of that graphic novel. And yet it earned over 400 million worldwide. Stop contradicting yourself and hiding behind your fight scene choreographers and your green screens.

Ooooohhhh Zack. You messed up there. You don't need to insult another CBM to try to promote your movie. Now just shut up and do what Mr. Nolan tells you to do.

MarkCassidy - 3/21/2011, 12:12 PM
Ah the obligatory fanboy backlash against a comment taken completely out of context. Where would CBM be without it?:)

He meant that he is surprised that a character like Thor is getting a movie while Superman had to wait so long since his last one, he never insulted the ACTUAL movie. Jesus.

@SuperConnerKent Im referring to the graphic novel itself, not the film. Yeah, maybe some people went and checked it out, but nobody really cares about it.
Illuminatus
Illuminatus - 3/21/2011, 12:15 PM
@RorMachine Supes had to wait so long to get another movie because Superman Returns was pretty bad. Also, it was not as financially successful as WB had hoped it would be.

looks like getting the gig for man of steel has given snyder some balls of steel, don't see the need of taking a swipe at another movie to be honest. But the dudes good director, hopefully he can make a movie where superman RETURNS to the big screen properly.

Thor is going to tank? Yeah because Van Wilder flying around in a CGI glowstick has "Highest Grossing Film of the Summer" written all over it.

Thor is very likely to be a hugely successful movie. Meanwhile, Superman is, according to Zack Snyder himself, "broken".

@TheGODDAMSUPERGUY Goyer's script? David Goyer is probably one of the worst writers employed in Hollywood currently. The only thing I like about him is that he actually reads the comics and has a general respect for the source material.

Seriously I can agree with him it's not a insult to Thor but surprising that Thor is put on such a fast track and made while Superman's film franchise fell behind so much. Most people probably are not familiar with Thor and that is why it surprising.

And people need to ease up on the Marvel vs DC arguments online whether they have good movies or not it's just another movie to the mainstream a fan has no stake in it other than seeing a movie starring a character they like if it is lucky it is not forgotten by the time the next year's CBMs come out.

why does he say superman doesn't have a movie out but
thor does? superman has several movies out. it's just
that most of them sucked. marvel only needed one try to
get it right.

@Dumegg. WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. What about Ang Lee's Hulk and the reboot? What about SM3 and its reboot? FAntastic Four? Daredevil and the reboot? Ghostrider and its reboot? Electra? Xmen Origins and its butchering of Deadpool? DO I NEED TO GO ON? Both Marvel and DC have made lame films in the past. Marvel's not perfect dude

@supermanfan17- i think you need to read my comment
again. he said " I'm like really Thor? Thor has a movie? like really? And there is no Superman movie."
so i responded with, superman has several movies out. it's just that most of them sucked. marvel only needed one try to get it right. meaning one shot to get thor
right. thor isnt out yet but it looks frickin' awsome.
so dont freek out. im not saying every marvel movie is great.

@supermanfan17

You're not talking about marvel, you're talking about the studios that owned/own the rights to those characters and released those god awful films.

He's talking about MARVEL. And how Thor will only need 1 to get it right, which well who knows. We shall see. Though i've read the script, and there's no way it could fail except if it turns out to be a musical.
Supes17
Supes17 - 3/21/2011, 1:36 PM
Im just saying that when it comes to film they often need more than 1 to get it right. But im sick of reboots myself there are several films that dont even nees them. like spiderman and superman. im sure brian singer learned from his mistakes and planned a better sequel. Im hoping Thor turns our like Iron man an the Hulk reboot. Action-wise, im sold for Thor, but it doesnt look interesting storywise

You people need to calm down and learn how to read because he wasnt talking down about Thor or the Thor movie. What he was saying is that its shocking that Thor has a movie coming out before Superman who is the most iconic comic book character ever. All you people who are complaining and saying how untalented some of the writers and directors are need to take a chill pill and talk about something you know because they actually get paid for what they do, so apparently they must be good at it. Complain when you can do a better job.

Jesus Christ you people are reaching.
He said it's crazy that a superhero as unknown as Marvel's Thor (not Norse Thor) is getting blockbuster treatment when there isn't even a Superman film that does the most popular superhero ever justice.

Grow up, it's an insignificant comment that holds no insult until you want there to be one so you can rant away.
