ROUTHBOOT problem solved

Easy fix for all those that say a RouthBoot won't work!

Everyone out there that says a RouthBoot won't work needs to remember that in the realm of comics, anything can work.
I think we can all agree that Roth did either a decent, good, or, some say, great job as Supes.

Now, how do we fix the problem of moving him into the next Superman movie with the existence of the movie that was SR and all of it's oddities? It's easy.
For those over the age of 30, you may remember way back in the day when your mom made you watch the TV show Dallas. JR got shot, a season went by, and then JR was alive. How was it explained? Oh, it was a dream? OK, no problem, all the crappy stuff that happened last season got forgiven and the show moved on. One of the most successful drama's in TV history I might add (hated the show but what can ya do).

We can apply this same logic to the RouthBoot. Indulge me and follow along please:
The scene opens and we see flashback scenes from SR. Lois, her husband, the kids, Lex.
Then we see a muddled scene of fists flying and hitting Supes in the face.
Next we see Supes floating in space, bruised, bloody and battered, cape torn, whole 9 yards. He is floating towards the moon. He craters on the moon.
Lying there we see some more flashbacks. Then slowly, the sun begins to shine on the moon and the sunlight slowly begins to move across Supes. More flashbacks, getting faster. Finally, the sunlight hits his closed eyelids and they open. The sun is healing him, recharging him. He focuses and we hear radio and tv broadcasts through his super hearing that Doomsday (or another big villain) has knocked Superman into outer space. They don't know if he is alive. The villain is wrecking everything in sight. Supes rushes back to Earth. Flying first to Metropolis, he races to find Lois, only to find out she is not married to James Marsters, but she is in fact married to Supes and they don't have a child. We begin to realize it was all a dream.
We then see a flash back of the events that led to Supes being knocked out. Once that is played out, Supes flies back into the fight and mega punches and heat vision and frost breath gets plastered on the screen like it should be.

Ok this is my first article, so take it easy on me please.

interesting story for a comic but in a movie it will not work right. returns was just a dream? this will enrage the fans.and nolan won't accept it

OMG I got a compliment from Teabag, I feels luvd. Thanks.
Yeah I know not everyone liked him. I did enjoy him, just not the story.

Sorry, but I think that's a terrible idea. Like Denn1s said, it might work in a comic, but not a movie.
BTW, It's Routh.

Well thanks for your input. And sorry about the mispelling of the last name. ROUTHBOOT. fixed.
Guess people would just have to be opened minded about the story line. it is a comic book movie after all. I mean we can wrap our heads around a nearly invincible man that flies around the world, but we can't suspend belief that SR was a dream....um ok.

@Sigmax - NO, Siggy....No. Nobody liked the Superman Returns movie unless they were ONLY watching it for Brandon Routh. Keep your half-ass-talent man-crushes to yourself. Superman Returns and anyone related to it did to superman what the Twilight Saga is doing to vampires and werewolves. If they use Routh again for the reboot movie, regardless of how borderline good it might be, it will tank and limp away from the box office with the shame it rightly deserves. Get your mind right and put your man-crush aside, please. I would rather see Tom Welling play Supes in the reboot...and I HATE Tom Welling.
I hate Tommy-boy with the fierce intensity of a thousand desert suns.

i have to say that youre not the only one that has thought about using SR as a dream.... i think it could work despite the critics. the only thing i would change in that scenario would be no LOIS in this next film...but your right...it could work if they wanted it to.

Can't we just all agree that a TRUE reboot is what is necessary here?

i have to agree with ANIL ... the dream could work but hes right....dealing with the kid and making the rest of it work could happen with great writers. Im interested to see how the Nolanverse comes together. I will totally laugh and praise them if they can take Singers SR and make something of it.....since we are told that its only a SEMI REBOOT and not a full. I would love all the haters to just choke on that reality... whaaahahhahaha. Bring back the ROUTH.

Routh was alright. He's hella better than Welling and Padelecki.

@ ANIL...wow... thats alot of information but it would be epic to see something like that. The only thing i would maybe do is start the movie out with us seeing Superman fly up to space to retrieve the crystals and him having the vision of doomsdays beginnings on krypton and with doomsday crashing into smallville and then incubating for a time while your story jumps to the whole parasite thing.... all in all....it was a great and fun read...i felt like i had been shot up with a super dose of caffeine. i definatly think that continuity is important.

This was a good attempt, but your reference to Dallas leaves out one important fact: the dream season was generally disliked by the fans. I think Married: with Children tried the same thing in the early 90's with a similar result. While it did help cover some plot holes/retcon in some deus ex machina business, fans were left disappointed/confused since it meant a whole season of watching was nullified. While this CAN be done, I think it would save a lot of time/effort to just ignore the Routh film the same way that SR ignore Superman 3 & 4.

Keep the ideas coming though.

I fell asleep watching Rouths performance, seriously I literally fell a sleep twice and it wasn't even that late.

@Superguy XDD Nice

Padelecki has the build for Supes, but has no acting chops whatsoever.

Oh, let me guess your response, could it be "WRONNNGG???"

@teabag- I totally agree. I guess I'm in the minority who thought Routh did a horrible job...even with the crappy director and writers, Routh's lack of acting experience and "wooden' acting style, really didn't help much.

[frick] the idea of a routhboot. Routh must step NOWHERE near the new film.

Hey, I'm not defending Routh, just saying he's not as bad as everyone says. All three of the actors I metnioned would suck IMO

Im actually intrigued by the idea, but I dont think it should be just a straight up dream. I think it sould instead be due to the machinations of a villain and be some kinda HUGE plot thing. Like maybe a telepathic villain (Brainiac? I cant recall if Supes has any telepathic villains at the moment). Also, if hes married to Lois then hes a ways into his career. I think itd be cool if part of the movie was him slowly remembering the real reality's history, ala the end of Birthright. Again, this would be part of some huge villains epic plan. Even still, however, I could imagine this failing if not done perfect.

this would be an incredibly lazy way to retcon a terrible movie.

imagine if thats what they did with things. "oh, that never happened, it was just a dream." lol

what if they explained Captain America's death like that? people would have rioted.

np Anil. remember tho that we are only being told that its a semi reboot and not a full so perhaps it will be something like a dream or a view into an alternate dimension .....introducing the multiverse... we all know that in the multiverse ther exists a superboy... you cant knock that.
Bobsuncorp

Lets not forget that in Returns Routhman had come back after a long absence. Now we all know this was to symbolise the gap between Superman 2 and Superman Returns, but what if the history was re-written, or I don't know, REBOOTED so that Routh plays big blue right from the start? So the reboot would be a prequel to Superman returns. Not saying it would be any good, just saying that is how it could be done.

@Bobsuncorp... thats an interesting point of view.... could give him some battles in WAR WORLD on his way back from krypton....it would be interesting to see that for sure....a Superman Movie where he defends earth from a different perspective and location.

Funny how even at this link, the person who wrote the article (this is from Yahoo news section) even the person who wrote this article said "Keep Bryan Singer away from this new creation"

Bryan Singer= Overhyped [frick] bag and I seriously hope his career will go down the drain soon. Christopher Nolan delivered for Batman...and it looks as though Martin Campbell may just deliver for Green Lantern. But sadly, Bryan Singer [frick]ed over Superman. I hate, hate, HATE Bryan [frick]en Singer

@ LP4... time to jump off that band wagon dude... Everyone knows that SINGER will NOT be involved in the Semi Reboot. Nolan will be......Nobody is trying to get Singer back onboard.... even he i think has given up on the idea... hes moved on... i think you should too. ;)

I waited nearly 12 or more years for a new Superman film...and Singer [frick]ed it all up the ass with his film. His mere existence is an insult to Superman-fans. Singer should feel ashamed.

Ever heard of alternate realities? They could have Routh back(and I wouldn't mind Spacey returning but I'd like James Marsters) and replace Boswerth with Zooey Deschanel. If they were going to make a SR sequel, then they could have Jason be Lois's ADOPTED son. His real parents should be Zod and Ursa, so Jason White would have to be Christopher Kent.

@SuperManFan01- That would be the WORST film ever. It would be the most un-organized pile of trash I'd ever laid eyes on. First off- Routh and Spacey both sucked, I don't want them back. In fact, I dont' want ANYONE from Superman Returns to be in the next film. Nolan said this will be a DIFFERENT film, separate from all the others. Please everyone- stop begging for Routh to return, it's getting irritating.
