Superman: The "Reboot Suit" and My Comments

I know these are getting old fast, but I decided to write this piece in fear of my comment being buried under the thousands already made on previous articles...

Ok, so we all know the Superman character that Henry Cavill will be depicting in 2013's Man of Steel will have no red trunks. As a Superman fan, I can say I was a bit taken aback by this decision. Not only am I a major fan of the character but of the classic costume as well.
I, for one, was hoping that the costume to make it on screen stayed true and was derived from the source material. But, in saying that, I become aware that the only medium where the costume has changed the most was in the comics. So if you're going to do a Superman movie that would be the first place to start. As we all know, the re-launch of the comic character is without red trunks. I have to admit, I can't believe nobody saw this coming.
I am a person who accepts change, and as die-hard as I was about the trunks, briefs, undies or panties making it back on screen this time around, oh well, you gotta roll with the punches, right?
Although, there are a few minor tweaks that could have been made to make it more pleasing to the eye. I've read a couple of reactions here and there that claim it's "too blue" with no red in the middle to segment accordingly. This may be true and the costume kind of passes off an Ultraman look.

A solution would be to include a more prominent belt, as the current one doesn't stand out with it's size and golden color. The re-launch character uses a red belt, which works nicely.

Other than the aforementioned concerns, I beleive that about wraps it up. Yes, short and to the point. No use in complaining either as what's done is done. Sound off below and let's enjoy the hell out of this movie!

Well it's a very low resolution pic so it's hard to see anything in great detail.

I don't see how people think it's too blue.
Blue: Body suit
Red: S shield, Boots, Long cape
Yellow/gold: Inside the shield, belt

Superman is my favorite superhero and I'm glad they've lost them for the movie. Looks more imposing to a villain. Superman finally learned to put his underwear under his suit. It's time to modernize Superman. It's not the 1930's anymore. Someone pointed out that people were the same way in '89 with Batman's suit for the movie, and no one says boo about Batman not having his underroos anymore. Superman is long overdue for this.

@superfan714 That's right! Let's enjoy this thing. I think it's gonna be hard not to.

Because underwear is supposed to be UNDER your wear. If you can't understand why it being on the outside is silly then I can't help you.

@JDUKE25 Preach it brother!
I never was a fan of wearing them on film. Looked good in the comics, but hard to translate in live action without looking gay. Glad they ditched them for Man Of Steel.

Well, maybe that's how Kryptonians roll? Maybe that's how they wear it? Maybe THEY call them OVERwear? You don't know.

I can live without the red SHORTS, but I agree, the colors need to be balanced out. The best solution (IMO) is to combine the red shorts and yellow belt (into a red and yellow belt of some kind). And, the blue needs to be richer/lighter in color. I suppose they can make it look any color in post-production, but from what I've seen, it's dirty-dark blue.

It looks unfinished. The color is wrong. The rubber texture doesn't appeal to me at all.

He doesn't need briefs on the outside of his pants, and he doesn't need a belt cuz there's nothing he's holding up with it, nor does he have utility pouches on it.
A blue body suit, red boots and a red cape. That's all he needs- he's not a fashion model.

He doesn't have a red underwear. This movie is going to bomb. Shut up. It is pathetic how people are actually thinking this movie will suck because of a slight costume change. Look at all the Batman movies. Not one of them resembles the comic yet are successful.

I do, have to honestly, say that I, kind of genuinely, miss the, red boxer briefs, ya know? :(/P :)

i still wonder though, if those muscles are REAL or just padding added under the costume?? either way, Cavill really seems to make the outfit WORKS...finally..after all the previous live action supermans, we got one who actually looks GOOD in the suit AND make the SUIT looks good as well.

Also to anyone worried about the mo-caps. THIS ISN'T ANOTHER GREEN LANTERN CRAPFEST. This is looking to be a genuinely decent if not EPIC modern-day Superman film.

Snyder is a master of visuals, he will make the mo-cap guy look REALLY cool and insane. Remember the movies "300" and "Sucker Punch"? Yeah, if he uses visuals like those, I'll be [frick]ing ecstatic! It'll be a nice and fresh change for the Superman franchise for once.

Plus we also have Nolan in our corner...yeah...CHRISTOPHER NOLAN...he only...you know...directed- Batman Begins, THE DARK KNIGHT, Prestige and INCEPTION.

All of them HUGE money-makers.

So with Nolan and Snyder...there is no plausible way for this film to fail. If it does...then Warner Bros seriously pulled a rabbit out of a hat.

I've noticed this before, but I am however, only saying it now for the first time, the material used for this suit looks way-off for a Superman uniform. I mean, it almost complete contradicts the "material" look of the suit in the full-body high resolution photo of Henry Cavill/Superman. On top of that it looks more like Batman's rubber-suit, ya know? While granted, Batman is really my all-time favorite superhero, Superman, is actually my second all-time favorite superhero, which why I can't stress-enough the fact that the latter's suit just needs to look more like a Superman and, not, a Batman, uniform here, ya know?!! :(/P :)

^ Hm...seemed rather useless then for Routh to get buff for a movie when he didn't even throw a punch the whole time.

Anyway, like i've said before. I really like the suit, I'm diggin it. It looks more alien to me now without the red-trunks on the outside. Because it makes the suit seem more..."natural" almost "elemental" in a sense...like it's taking over his body or something. I like that it's finally something different for a change.

I'm sick of Superman movies all being the same. This one is different. Nothing wrong with that. I just hope movie won't be as weak as the synopsis.
