So Man of Steel is coming out soon, like this week. It will make a ton of money, and impress critics. I truly believe that this incarnation of Supes will spark the best version and a great possibility of DC to make the movies that fans have been dying for. What was good about Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy, was that it was original. Sure it had inspirations from certain comics/graphic novels but it melded itself into a unique vision. What wasn’t inspiring to fans was it didn’t feel like a comic book adaptation. Fans understand that the movie version cannot always be straight from the panels, but it must keep a sense of entitlement. It was so based in reality, that it forgot that it’s about a guy dressing up as a Bat to fight crime. With that said, I praise Nolan for lending his aide to Zach Snyder’s helming of Man of Steel without spreading the Nolan-Effect too wide. To keep it at its core, about a man who can fly. So theoretically Nolan told Snyder, Look this is what I did for Batman. I want you to do something for Superman and the future of other DC characters. If you put the concept of this character and make him feel as real as possible, that’s where the endless possibilities lie. Of course Nolan never said that exactly, but you catch my drift?
I think we can safely assume that Nolan will not personally helm another DC film adaptation, or any other comic book movie for that matter. But he will give his aide and advice to DC, allowing the fans to see something new and spectacular. As a huge Marvel comics/movies fan, I love how they keep the core of science fiction into the film properties. That is what keeps all Marvel Films so good, that it deals with mutants, science, and hell astronomy. Now of course, with the two different brands of comics people will always find similarities. Now on to what I love about DC. I find the characters, talking in certain about the Justice League members, way more intriguing. Superman is the man who knows he doesn’t fit in, but fights for ones who can’t fight back. Clark Kent is raised with the moral of pride and not misusing his power. His morals make him a boy scout (where as Cap. America is the R.O.T.C. cadet) that if pushed, will push back harder. Supes is the start of DC. DC knows that Green Lantern was a risk, and most likely knew the possible results of it failing. There is only one way to start the DC franchise over, let Clark Kent truly become The Last Son of Krypton.
With MOS being released to theaters in a count of mere days, the work for the sequel is unsurprisingly already in the pipeline. If a chef receives rave review about their Friday night entrée, he or she will continue to expand and impress. DC, give these guys time to shine. I have always considered David Goyer to be a great talent. From what I’ve read about Goyer, is that grew up a fan of comic books. The thing that makes him real is that he went to film school, and took jobs that he could take. He wrote scripts for Doll-Man VS Demonic Toys (a hilarious gem too), Puppet Masters, and The Crow: The City of Angels. The latter I think was his first shot to writing something he could put his personal stamp on, Even though the film is quite horrible. Nobody can judge any writer/director/actor for their early work, its evolution of talent. A couple of years later, he started on what would be his first, single handily, written trilogy of a comic book character. That would turn out to be Blade, to which all in all was great. Sure the Finale’ was a bit of a miss, but Blade was never going to be the headliner of Marvel. Then came his part in separate Nolan Batman trilogy, for which Goyer was in the mix from the very beginning. That’s two comic book trilogies that this guy has already has under his belt. That tells me that he, unknowingly, has been working his way into the hearts of Studios trust. Now WB and Legendary Pictures now know that Mr. David Goyer can and will bring DC what they wanted for so long, The Justice League!!!
OK, so to recap. MOS will dominate! MOS sequel will keep Snyder and Goyer. Now we can go ahead and guess that Goyer and quite possibly Snyder as well to make Justice League. Now, I put time into my thoughts about Goyer because I truly believe that he is a great and passionate talent, and WB should be so fortunate that he is willing to give his time and writing credentials towards their roster of characters. With that said, on to how I feel about Zach Snyder. I had some doubts when he was announced as the director for MOS. I initially figured they wanted a loud spectacle that would be boom bam boom! But as I more thought about it, I grew more un-apprehensive about his ability. Much like Goyer, Snyder has been working for years. He obviously loves comic books and has an eye awakening vision on screen. So I, much like all the fans, wait for the announcement of who is going to play Supes! Now I clearly remember back a year or so before Superman Returns came out, scanning websites for information on who was the favorite to gain the role. Orlando Bloom(For Real), Josh Hartnett, Matt Bomer, Ashton Kutcher(….), David Boreanaz, and there was Henry Cavill. I don’t care to garb about what if. It started with Cavill and thankfully has ended with the right choice. This guy at one time was at tons of auditions and very likable to be cast as Superman, Batman, and James Bond. WOW! He was working, but had not hit any kind of big time quite yet. Nobody have given him a chance and allowed him to run with it. Flash forward ten years later, He had continued to work, but could not impress studios enough to the big roles that fans, that knew of him, wanted him for. He was about to give up and go back to school. He was even quoted in an interview (paraphrasing) that he was going to finish his school, and possible join the British military. But he stuck it out, and pushed himself to show the world what he had in himself as an actor and person. Read about this guy, he truly has a heart of gold. I do not see this guy changing his self because of the amount of success he is surely about to receive. Hmmm, with that said, who does that remind you of. Dam straight it is Clark Kent. This is a long article, but my point is that WB is planning something epic. Goyer, who hasn’t really been given the chance to run a retelling of Comic based superhero (without Nolan’izing it too much). Snyder has been quoted to being a huge fan of DC’s top tier heroes, Bats and Supes. Now he is going to get the opportunity. And there is Mr. Cavill, whom could have very well not been the superman we deserve. He has had Superman on his mind for ten years now, auditioning for two Superman adaptations. DC/WB is letting passion run their franchise into new heights.
Here is the jist of what I’m trying to get at. This is how they separate themselves from Marvel’s insane billion dollar success story. They go for top talent, but also passionate people. Artists that have a desire to make the best possible film, while also keep the respect very present on screen.

If the plan is to build up credibility through Superman, they could release a Superman sequel and another Solo film in the same year. I picture it being none other than Wonder Woman.

Now, how long should they wait until a Justice League movie? With the rumors that Wayne Corporation will indeed be referenced in MOS, I bet that
Batman will get a reboot before Justice League.
Batman Reboot—2016/2017
Then after the main three have their time to shine, Justice League can come out for real. Allow time introduce two or three other heroes. Flash for sure. Most likely Green Lantern, I think a Jon Stewart would be fantastic. Anyways, I don’t think we will see Justice League for a few years at least, but I will safely bet that they are making some sort of plans to start it. Those were just some guesses, I really don’t want to throw out there what I think will happen. We will know what’s going to happen with the future of DC movies here in the following months. Godspeed to Henry Cavill, David Goyer, Zach Snyder, and Christopher Nolan for giving fans the first step in what we have been waiting decades for.
