A month ago, it was revealed that William Fichtner had been cast in Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman's reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, his role was kept a secret. Today, in an interview with Huffington Post Canada, the actor finally revealed who he will be playing!

What are you doing in "Ninja Turtles"?

I play Shredder. It is cool. It's one of those things that came along where I thought, "Really? Let me think about this for a minute." [Laughs] Then I was like, "Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey." I'm very glad that it worked out, I'm really glad that I'm doing it.

So there it is! Fichtner is playing a new version of The Shredder, as many fans speculated. However, this seems to be a much different version of the character typically portrayed in the comics, TV shows and movies! Time will tell when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes out next June!

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"), and produced by Michael Bay ("The Rock"). The script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, based on characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The cast includes: Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, and Will Arnett as April's cameraman. It lands in theaters June 6th, 2014.

Fichtner could be playing Casey Jones for all I care, and I still would be cool with it.

Love the guy.

Can they atleast have an Asian play Oroku in flashbacks provided that William keeps his face concealed? at least Secret of The Ooze had an excuse when Kevin Nash was Super Shredder.

@Ror

Ian Anthony Dale would be my first choice.

Doesn't matter though.

Because there will definitely be a twist and Shredder will be revealed to be an alien in disguise named Krang.

So, Fitchner as Shredder (before transformation) - sounds good to me.

He could be possibly a great Shredder. He's gonna have a hard time besting James Saito first performance as Shredder in TMNT 1990.

@Tony13175

You didn't need to correct: "wouldn't you have Shredder not be Asian" would be a double negative.

He was really memorable in TDK. He gives off this sort of villainous vibe. Good choice.

Like Fitchner but I have the feeling this is gonna be just like GI Joe Rise of Cobra; changing source too much. Hope I'm wrong though, would love a good Turtles flick.

This is the actor himself who said it. I think that might be reliable.

I'm Asian and I could care less if Fichtner is white or Asian. He's a great actor and I'm sure he'll bring a lot to this movie.
